2 girls, one guy at the coffeeshop

Hey all, I was just at a coffeeshop where three students were on a group assignment. Two of them girls, one of them some guy. Anyway i caught the blonde looking at me maybe 20 times, so I was sure she was pretty much interested. But because their group was so turned into eachother I had no idea how to open this set. I really hate losing opportunities because of structural or social obstacles. It really pisses me off when something or someone who should be mine is being obstructed. Everyone was in a sitting position, but their group was really tight knit.

How would you boys have handled this?

These are merely ideas that popped into my head. It frustrates a lot me too when I get real IOIs, but the situation is challenging because of obstacles.

How long were you there for? Did she not get up at all during the time to order something or use the bathroom, etc? Might have seem too orchestrated if you passed her on the way to the bathroom as she was walking back to her group though.

How close were you to the group? Like if the sugar/cream area was close to them you could have gone over there for some reason (add more cinnamon to your drink) and possibly created an opportunity for a situational opener. Ex: girl looks at you as you finish and you sip your newly embellished drink with a look of utter bliss on your face. Then as you walk by you say how you love (whatever you’re drinking). Seen if that segued into an actual conversation.

I imagine engaging her in the group would take the most skill. Charisma to be impactful on all three while simultaneously being able to read how serious they are about their work and how much time you have to make an impression. Even a small interaction with her in the group could make the note idea at the end work better. Getting her name so you can personally address her. Or maybe not.

Was there a point where she really held the eye contact? Could’ve tried to wave her over to you.

You could have passed her a note as you were leaving, saying something about her eyes, what you like about her look, and left your number/name on the note.

On your Notes app, write down, "hey I think your really cute. And I'd like to take you out for a drink one time when your not working on your project. What's your number?"

Then walk up to the group, "Hey sorry guys. do any of you guys know what bus to take to get to X (make X a place a far area or make the place up). Your aim is to get a "no sorry man" so you'll go , "Fuck I guess I'm gonna have to call an uber then haha" then just as you are about to leave, "suddently" notice something on blonde girl. "Oh where did you get that shirt from?" I think my sister has that exact one that's crazy (if there's nothing unique on her, then comment on the project, "what are you guys working on") apologize to the group again "sorry if I'm interrupting you guys lol" back to blonde, "hey umm can you help me call my uber real quick. I've actually never used this app before" you should have your Notes app open, then just hand it to her. Get the number. "Awesome. Thanks so much for your help. Bye guys!" then walk out. And arrange a one on one meet within the next couple of days.

Yeah, I think with shit like this you basically just have to make something up, SOME reason that you have to talk to the group. Once you've penetrated their bubble, its not that bad and you can basically do what you want (without bringing too much attention to the fact that you're obviously going for one of them - that puts more pressure on her than she probably wants). Sure, some people in the group (especially other guys) might be a little weirded out or not wanting you there, but don't worry about them. You're there to talk to the girls not the guys.

As with Velasco's example, once you reveal the girl your actual intentions, she'll usually enjoy the fact that you had the balls to do what you did and play it off smoothly. It becomes your dirty little secret.

Finally behind a computer so I can reply to you guys in a decent way.

Pitcher: Passing her by if she went to a bathroom might seem orchestrated, but I would not care. I would see that as an oppertunity. The problem was as Valesco and Hue describe the bubble which these guys were in. Also leaving a note can be done but does it really give a strong impression? Women do not understand logistics, so odds are that they would see it as a half assed way to make contact. I do not like increasing the odds against me usually.

Valesco: Yes, this is the kind of response that I really needed. I will make this my defacto interruptor for such situations. I am not against canned responses or openers because they are so handy in situations where you have to improvise.

Hue: Indeed this asks for some good calibration! Girls can feel anti slut defense way too fast, which is why I like Valesco's covert method of operating.
Also about other guys acting weird: I don't give a damn . He was actually trying to be cute with her, but he is no match for the Dark Knight swagger . Thanks for the feedback as always bro
