Been using this silly opening routine while out day gaming lately:

Fog: I saw you standing here and I was like...what the heck!

Usually the girl will stand there looking at me inquisitively, sometimes with a slight smile. After a brief pause, I'll say,

Fog: well i had to say hiiii!

If I say just that, and deliver it with the frame and vocal tone that I already know the girl, she will usually say,

Girl: Are you mistaking me for someone else you might know?

To which I reply,

Fog: Just thought you were interesting. (i change the topic quickly here)

I think it's hilarious, and I can only imagine the type of emotions she might be feeling...

I am in the habit of assuming rapport, and don't want to remind her that I'm a stranger. Engineering my pickups so that it feels like she's chatting with an old friend is something I've been working hard on.

Any commentary or thoughts on how I can improve this routine this are welcome. :) I wanna get things just right so that it feels like she might know me, but she doesn't know for sure.

the right date makes getting her back home a piece of cake

How you say it, is one thing.

I remember saying "haiixxxxxxx" to girls during msn messenger. I didn't know that the meaning was 'sigh' and not 'Hi'. But you do have a point it.
Often, girls have no interest once they go platonic. Only recommend to be more proactive if you are dressed well, and your fundamentals are right.
