Dealing With Disrespect

So the weirdest thing just happened.

(Not related to seduction, but it's a social situation so I think this is probably the best community to post it in)

I went to one of my habitual cafeterias. Today, no one I knew very well was there, so I just sat at an empty table. The waiter (I know him from sight, little gay boy, super friendly but we don't really talk that much) took my order (a coffee) and left. At the table next to me, two young couples, proabably in their 20s. With luggage, so obvioulsy tourists.

The guy closest to me looks at me a bit too intensely as I sit down. I get that quite a lot. It does bug me, but apparently there's not much I can do about it. I was dressed quite laid back, typical summer clothes: White sleeveless button down shirt, little black necklace, black shorts, and black vans sneakers that I find quite stylish.

Anyway, the guy looks away pretty quickly so I forget about it. They talk in some slavic language, I think it might be Ukrainian but I might be wrong since I don't understand any of the Slavic languages - they all sound more or less the same to me.

I'm drinking my coffee and at some point I see a hot girl so I look at her, in the general direction of the table of these people. As I check out the girl, I catch the guy staring at me again. He has qutie intense blue eyes. Our eyes meet, he quickly looks me up and down then looks away again. I'm thinking, that was disrespectful but at least he isn't staring me down so I go back to checking stuff on my phone.

Now those people are getting their bill, they pay but they're still sitting there. I'm finishing my coffee too but reading something on my phone, leaning forward with my arms rested on the table. I'm kind of annoyed by my table neighbours at this point and I'm wondering why they're not leaving.

Suddently I notice my chair moving, as if someone bumped into it. I turn around and I see that one of the girls from the neighbouring table has casually rested her arm on the backrest of my chair. I look at her and say "excuse me?" (In the local language, which I don't think they understand since they ordered the bill in English). She just looks at me through dark sunglasses, doesn't remove her arm. I make a gesture raising my hand with palm outward, in a "WTF" kind of way. She removes her arm and says something in her language. I have no idea what she's saying but it didn't sound apologetic. I look at the guys at the table, they are looking elsewhere. Which is kind of weird in itself since I'm just addressing the girl they're with. But whatever. She removed her arm so I turn back to my phone.

I keep reading my phone for a minute but I'm getting angry now so I can't concentrate. I wait for a about a minute to see if they leave. They don't, so after maybe 60 seconds I decide it makes no sense staying in this tense situation so I go inside the bar to pay for my coffee.

As I'm inside paying, I see them getting up and grabbing their stuff to leave. As I finish paying, the girl that had her arm on my chair is standing in the door, facing in my direction. She is wearing sunglasses though so I can't see if she's looking at me directly. It does feel like she is doing this on purpose though.

I give her a quick unfriendly look as I walk out, but obviously I'm in no mood to get into a fight with random strangers about nothing really. Especially as I'm outnumbered. Some of the staff at this bar I'm quite friendly with, but today there were only staff there that I don't talk to much if at all so I couldn't count of them to have my back.

So WTF just happened here? Am I just being overly sensitive to some random girl putting her arm on the backrest of my chair? To me that feels utterly weird. It might just be a coincidence of course. But in combination with the looks I got from her friend previously, it's just a bit too much of a coincidence. Also the way they all seemed to be looking the other way as I addressed the girl was suspicious.

Plus if she did it unconscioulsy wouldn't she have said "Oh sorry" or something when I called it out? And why would she then later stand in the door and look my way, instead of staying outside with her friends?

I can't really imagine that there are people who sit on a beautiful sunlit terrace at 1pm in the afternoon and try to pick a fight with someone already. Was that what just happened? People are so weird sometimes...

What I'm wondering: Is it just normal if you live your life as a man, that you'll just get aggressive stares (or more, in some cases) from random people as you go about your daily life? Because I get looked at quite a lot. It doesn't even seem to matter much how I dress. Pretty much all the people that know me, are super lovely with me. But with strangers, first reactions can be all over the place.

Remembering the post some guy (I forget his user name right now) made recently who had a rando threaten to get his whole gang to kick his ass... This today wasn't as bad, but it kind of fried my brain and I needed to get it off my chest.

Sometimes you stand out and someone is having a bad day and they wanna take it out on someone. Maybe you were dressed in a way that told em you weren't a local or whatever. Who knows. If you feel tension, it's best to just get out of that spot.

Blue eyed guy was trying to pick you up (he's gay). Woman sees you are straight and approaches you.
