2026-03-14 - Lol ok so the plan was to go to an early venue, then a warmup bar having a dance night, then a really gay event night, and then a house lounge much later.
So my wing had a gay date in the afternoon and used my date spot and plausible deniability, then got laid while I took a half ass nap, not nearly good enough. He said they just got to know each other and were physically bumping into each other and touching a bit, then just got back and escalated on the couch. He likes the word escalate.
So we start driving and he starts feeling queasy, possibly from working out way too hard lately. He got a sports drink for electrolytes but I had to turn around and take him home. I went to the early event after 9pm and got in line. These two girls came out, short and early 20's in big white fluffy faux fur coats and glitter makeup. Pretty cute girls! They sat on a bench behind me, looking really tired.
Over a shoulder I looked back and asked how it was in there tonight. They said packed and we chatted briefly about it and how tired she was. She was yawning. I told them my friend got sick so I ended up late. The yawning one was talking more and the quiet one was wide eyed locked on me smiling. I said they would fit in with their outfits at the second venue I was going to. They agreed their outfits would work great there but she was honestly exhausted looking. I was floating it to see if her friend might come back in and tag along with me from there. With more finesse maybe it could have been an early pull. Their friends came out and they went to leave. I heard one remark that they made a friend (me) and I overheard them agreeing. So the conversation was good. This gave me social proof with another girl in line I almost approached. Key word almost, because...
I showed ID and got a wristband, then the door guy said something about the counter. It looked like coat check so I just went right in, thinking "three second rule, first set on the left". There was kind of a corner there, so I looked first set on the right and saw a girl from line a little separate from her group. It looked like a birthday celebration with friends, so I was just about to say the Sixty line "hi what are you celebrating", and then I feel a hand on me.
The door guy is pulling me back and said there's cover. I was confused and said I thought it was free. He said it was free with RSVP. I could tell he had a short fuse so I looked him in the eye and said sorry man I must have read the poster wrong. I definitely did not, but that's a dumb battle to fight. I said I was going to take off then. I had found very strategic free parking and am resolutely doing frugal night game. No way am I forking out unexpected cover for a short end of the night. Lesson learned. Always RSVP. I have seen so many dumbass guys pay so much money for event fees. Especially on Halloween! It's a principle thing. Maybe I'm being dumb and could have hit an early event pull o'clock. I don't care. I'm not paying for the "privilege" to talk to women when I can meet an MBA student who doesn't go out at 8:30am in a cafe. Tomorrow I have family plans, but I digress!
So I go to the next venue and the crowd's way older than expected. There's one ok 2 set and a lone wolf slim blonde who looks late 40's at least. I hit the bathroom and she met my eyes on the way back. I didn't have the snap to ask if she knew how late it was going in case my friend was feeling better later. After the loop the place was burned. It's really 3 second rule or bust.
With the wing I could have sat in this place for a solid hour chatting and maybe got some proximity hovers and warmups over the shoulder. And there's no way I'm going to this gay event without him. Maybe I'll check out the lounge but it's probably going to be dead this early. That was an after midnight plan.
I think after a few times out with a wing, I will be ready to roll solo regardless when this kind of thing happens, since there's a couple fallback places I can always hit when I learn how to walk into a place like Cajun and get rockin' right away.
