So the end of the month is coming up and I started it with the goal of 100 approaches that didn't get a cold shoulder to get over my approach anxiety since I'm just getting back out there after a long break and a lot of trouble with girls (check out my previous posts if you want that story).Well, I quickly realized 20 would be more likely so here I am now with just 7 approaches and the most recent one went as smooth as all hell. (Or so I thought)
Here's basically what happened: I was waiting on campus (it's a community college campus) in the cafeteria after school for my ride to come and pick me up since I can't drive yet when I see this just average looking girl walk in glance at me then begin walking around the cafeteria stopping and looking at signs and stuff in there. Eventually I realize she's giving me opportunities to approach. So I got up and began walking in her direction to look at something else as you do only to get cold feet and breeze right past her and walk out. A few minutes later, I found myself waiting for my ride outside instead only to look over and see that very same girl just sitting on the bench waiting for someone to pick her up as well so I got up and tried again. Only this time, I actually pulled it off. As I was walking by I did the sudden notice pre open and said
"Hey, you where in the cafeteria a second ago right?"
Her: "yeah"
Me: "Are you stalking me ,lady!? (Joking)"
Her: "No"
Me: "I was joking"
Her: (laughs)
Me: "you mind if I take a seat?" (Referring to the empty space on the bench next to her)
Her: "Sure!"
(Conversation goes on, blah blah blah)
I can't really remember the entire conversation as it had happened about a week ago but I remember it was a your average nice little conversation (conversation of common interest then deep dived) she always laughed when I made a joke, even a bad one! Eventually her ride came and I wasn't really all too interested in any further interactions with her since she was barely average and not really what I was looking for so I didn't bother asking for her number so I just said I'd see her around and she said the same back to me.
Two days later, I saw her walking by and I just waved and she gave me a weird look (I wasn't entirely sure it was her, she has more look alikes on campus than you'd think). Then come today, I was reading in one of the lobbies on campus and I saw a girl walk by who seemed cute out of the corner of my eye, I looked up only to find it was her again. A minute later she walks by again this time giving me a cold stair (I was using peripheral vision, here but I could still tell).
So I finished my chapter and got up to go somewhere else to set up camp where I knew there would be more people walking by or stopping at that would give me a chance to approach. Sure enough, she walks by again (still giving me this cold stair). So then I go down to the cafeteria to hang out with a group of guys I approached earlier in the month to just get used to meeting people again, turns out she knows them because she's hanging out in the back of cafeteria just talking to one of them as they walked by. So then at that point I figure fuck it, let's just go talk to her. But I turn around and see she's moved again.
I figured she'd go outside because that's where I was talking about going to play some football with the guys in the parking lot. Sure enough, I walk around the corner of the front doors to the parking lot and there's the guys playing football and in my path is this same fucking girl talking to two other guys and right as I walk by they look up at me (not knowing me) and I can clearly hear her talking about how I approached her that day a week ago! She was quoting what I said word for word and in response one of the guys says "yeah, that's weird." Nothing really happened after that, I just played the damn game of football and avoided her the best I could. But it's just fucking annoying, like this was a damn week ago. Get over it. If this is how it always is, I'm having serious doubts about approaching anymore until I'm old enough to go to clubs and bars because I know it's a game of probability but damn, you get the cold shoulder way more often than not. I don't exactly want to be the topic of a conversation like that a week after just another average approach that may have not been as great as it could have been.
