So I’m back in school, and recently I’ve been working on my peripheral vision. I’m having the most trouble with this. Usually, when I look at people, I kind of have a staring problem. When I look at someone, I usually make eye contact with them. Like, every time I’ve seen a girl look at me or look my way, my eyes kind of automatically link with hers, and then we both just kind of look away, or she looks away.
I used to look away, but since being a part of Girls Chase, I learned that you shouldn’t immediately look away. I used to break eye contact and look down.
Now, when I’ve been trying to use my peripheral vision, I’m usually walking and trying to look over out of the corner of my eyes, but everything looks blurry, or I can’t make out people’s faces. Do you move your head, or do you keep your head straight? And how do you look at people’s faces when people are moving?
Like today, I was trying to use it, and I was looking off to the right side of me while some girls were walking toward me on my left, so I really wasn’t paying them any attention. But as I looked back forward, this girl was looking dead at my face, and my eyes just locked onto her eyes. As I did that, I realized that was probably not the best thing to do. She kind of started looking past me while we were walking by each other. It confused me a little bit because I was like, was she actually looking at me, or am I just tripping?
Also, when I was walking down the side of the street, I noticed a Black girl with braids in a gray crop top looking at me as I was walking in her general direction. She was on the other side of the street, and it was more of an intersection. As I crossed the street to get to the other side, we were still a little distance from each other, so I really didn’t think of it like she was looking directly at my face. I think she was just looking at my body or in the direction I was heading.
But the main thing I’m trying to convey is: Does anybody have any tips, know any videos or posts they would recommend, or have a way to practice so I can get better at using my peripheral vision?
