Hi all.

Don't mean to offend anyone's friends or family in the military :)

But this just came up to me.. I know a few girls that dated military guys. And all those girls.. ..well are seriously fucked up. They have confidence issues, unstable life, they all broke up with those guys really badly, like broken marriages etc.

Maybe it's my negative bias towards the army speaking louder than reason, but would you say that a girl that is attracted by someone that essentially gets paid to kill people is fucked up and you should be very careful with her? My image of the traditional guy from the army, according to my interactions with people from the army, is that those guys are kinda dumb, act as they are the shit and have aggressive nature.

What is your take on this?

Best!

No, you're generalizing. The army is the biggest branch in the US military, with about 2 million in it's ranks. It's a lot more diverse than most people think, so 2 or 3 cases of an army relationship gone sour doesn't prove much. I know of many men who served who have the most fulfilling relationships you can imagine contrary to your post.

It also sounds like you have a poor understanding of the Army. "Killing", as you call it, is just one very small part of what the us military actually does. The jobs that actually involve directly combating an enemy are a small minority over-shadowed by the jobs that most soldiers are actually given. There are things like intelligence, communications, cooks, construction, admin, lawyers, medical technicians, MP, etc.

The only jobs that ever see direct combat is pretty much infantry and spec ops, and even then infantry spends most of their time grinding on ranges and cleaning, and only see combat about 1% of the time they're deployed (it's actually quite boring when not in a firefight).

Tbh, I'm surprised you'd be biased against a force like the army. It's no secret girls love dominance, focus, strong will, confidence, etc. and you should be trying to mimic those qualities you see in veterans (especially Marine veterans).

So no, it very much makes sense that women are attracted to men who served or are serving. In fact, they will attract all sorts of women, even ones that were crazy to begin with.

I think this is a mostly US-guys forum and in the US you have a very special relationship with the army.

In Europe the army isn't seen as such a noble institution.. And yes, I'm really biased against the army, one way or another the army's job is not to defend anyone, it's mainly used to kill other people, but this is my opinion and it's not the point of the thread. In the US it seems that the typical army dude is seen as just a regular guy with a job, but in Europe I notice more negativity towards what the army as an institution does, so probably this is where my negative opinion comes from.

But, oh well, perhaps I am just connecting dots that don't really make that much sense and I just had the wrong experiences.

Unpopular opinion. Relates to the army.

Here's a curious question. If the main site is visited from 100 countries and according to public stats, only 35% of those visitors are from the US, how this forum ended up to be so US-centric?
