I have long heard that NYC is favorable for single men due to its gender ratios and how the women here are just thirsting for a decent guy. Before I say anything else I do want to say I have not done much with daygame here for the most part, a lot of my success comes from dating apps, hobbies, social circle, and I spent a lot of weekends on night game.
As I go out to the most popular bars in Manhattan, this is what I tend to see a lot of:
1. Women out with large mixed groups and no intentions of meeting new men. Largely girls from New Jersey trying to play the image game.
2. More guys than girls, I have made small talk to find that quite a few people are moving here from The Bay Area which is definitely a huge red flag.
3. An approachable set here and there.
Now I read Chase's posts on how dive bars are good for meeting girls serious about going home with a guy but what I find is that dive bars are very hit or miss in NYC. What I mean is that in Manhattan you have two areas that are consistent in terms of having a stream of above average looking women and those are also the areas with the most popular bars. The areas with heavy dive bar scenes tend to be sausage fests, die down after midnight, and are not that favorable with ratios.
I've still done well in NYC due to having good looks which helps on dating apps, being more socially connected than the average guy, and having hobbies that produce lays but I wonder if NYC's golden years or nightlife are behind it.
It could be that men from shithole cities (San Fran) heard how good it was here and moved here in droves, it is scary and frightening how man people from the Bay Area I have run into here.
