So I am noticing the phenomena in my intermediate-level game. Basically, when I am in field and botch things I can clearly see different mistakes I made, but only after the fact. Things I already know how to do better, but for some reason failed to do in the heat of the moment. So my question is how do you bridge that gap between being confronted with a scenario, and seeing the solution? Is it just putting hours in, so it is just second nature? Or is there an underlying principle that can help guide you in the heat of battle?

Exactly this - no shortcuts I’m afraid.

After a while you’ll be able to do it all on auto-pilot and then change tact in real time.

Getting feedback from more experienced guys helps too

After action reviews, and having specific things in mind you want to work on. Then put in the time.

Can't do it alone, that's for sure. Joining this forum was such a good call. Appreciate all the perspectives y'all bring.

Good call, I tend to keep a lot of this in my head, but recently have been keeping a personal journal on it and that is helping tons.
