I'm making this post because for the second time this year, and for the 5th (!) time including previous years, a pickup artist brags about being a psychopath, talks about how it's a huge advantage in life, and that women find it very attractive.

So here's the PSA (public service announcement):

Dark triad traits like psychopathy, narcissism and machiavellianism are not positive traits for a seducer or for a human being.

Yes, I know there is discussion in the seduction community about how women get attracted to these traits. I will discuss this below, but first things first.

Dark Triad traits, much like borderline or bipolar, are pathologies, meaning mental illnesses.

It's right in the words "psychoPATH" and "psychoPATHIC". These words are closely related to the word "PATHOLOGY", which in turn comes from Greek and is DEFINED at dictionary.com as - pathology (pəˈθɒlədʒɪ)
  • the science or the study of the origin, nature, and course of diseases.
  • the conditions and processes of a disease.
  • any deviation from a healthy, normal, or efficient condition.

The word psychopath is built from ancient Greek roots:
  • Psyche meaning "mind," "soul," or "spirit."
  • Pathos meaning "suffering," "disease," or "illness."
Psyche = mind
Pathos = illness

Put them together and you get:

Psychopathy = mental illness.

So if you are a psychopath or any other dark triad trade, you are sick. By definition. As per the definition of the word. And this is a liability to yourself and to everyone around you.

If you have identified this in yourself, that is wonderful. Now get to work on healing it. Don't embrace it, don't celebrate it, don't think it's cool because it is not fucking cool to be a fucking psychopath!

What the fuck people.

  • Yes, women get attracted to bad boys. That means you should have strong psychological boundary function and not be a push over. It does not mean you should become a criminal.
  • Yes, women get attracted to dominant men. That means you should be psychologically dominant in conversation and if there is consent, physically dominant in the bedroom. It does not mean you should beat women up.
  • Yes, women get attracted to Dark Triad Traits. That means you should present yourself as mysterious and powerful. It does not mean that psychopathic traits or tendencies are an asset in seduction, leave alone in life.

They will say things like "this works better if done correctly". That is incorrect. There is no right way to do the wrong thing. If you're doing the wrong thing you're already wrong. So how could you possibly do it "correctly"? That's like saying "doing math wrong will give you better results, so long as you do it correctly."

I'm not even saying "you shouldn't live this way because it will end up harming others" (even though that is the case, you shouldn't.) No, YOU YOURSELF will get worse results in the long run.

I would also say that the Seduction Community as a whole should stop giving quarter to these kinds of attitudes. Why is it okay for someone to say "oh yeah I have psychopathic tendencies"? We wouldn't tolerate someone who said "oh yeah I have pedophile tendencies" and how is that any different? It is not.

Final comment and I've posted this before here:

There aren't just 2 kind of people in the world. Those who are willing to use the dark arts and those who don't.

There is a third kind of person in the world. The kind who wouldn't use the dark arts to harm others. But if you fuck with them, they will fuck you back so hard you are going to wish you had never been born. Be careful out there.

Psychopaths often tend to think that being ruthless is an advantage because they see most nice people as victims. That's a fundamental mistake in thinking.

There aren't just predators and prey. There are also peaceful creatures that do have claws and teeth and will them bring out when it's necessary to destroy a predator.

Personally I would never hurt an animal. Unless it's a mosquito or any other creature trying to suck my blood. I kill those fucking sons of bitches without a split second of hesitation or remorse.

If you think "I just have to get better at faking that I'm not PD", you're headed in the wrong direction. The mask always slips at some point. People always find out who you really are eventually. And human societies run on reputation.

Better figure out how to heal those mental conditions. I've mentioned Ayahuasca on another thread, I'd recommend that to you. Figure out where that darkness in your soul is coming from and heal it.

/End of public service announcement.

Pretty much agree on bigger picture, but since this has been interest of mine have to throw in couple of comments:

Psychology recognizes these as disorders and pathologies. Even though there have been lots of theories about childhood trauma etc., there starts to be more and more evidence of strong genetic influence on these traits. So individual cannot really choose wether they have these tendencies or not.

And if you have this genetic pressure I absolutely recommend to learn to control and live with these traits. Learn to use a fucking willpower and prefrontal cortex to compensate. Otherwise you will end up having really shitty life. Your social circle will end up being 100% composed of other dark triad nutcases because normal people will avoid you.

When you control downsides these traits can be useful. Narcissistic tendencies make you put effort into taking care of yourself, machiavellism helps you to be really efficient in social situations and psychopathy help you to be cold and calculating when needed.

Without control you will just end up being ass-raped in prison by bigger psychopath which is nothing to brag about.

1. Who are the other 4 guys? I want to congratulate them! 😁

2. Perhaps different people are writing that women find psychopathy very attractive because....it's true.

Dark triad traits like psychopathy, narcissism and machiavellianism are not positive traits for a seducer

Well, psychopathy certainly works in seduction - in this context, it's clearly a positive trait.

Yes, women get attracted to Dark Triad Traits. That means you should present yourself as mysterious and powerful. It does not mean that psychopathic traits or tendencies are an asset in seduction, leave alone in life.

Wrong. They are clearly an asset in seduction and can be also an asset in life.

And I know both from experience - while you seem to be KJing in this matter.

They will say things like "this works better if done correctly". That is incorrect. There is no right way to do the wrong thing. If you're doing the wrong thing you're already wrong. So how could you possibly do it "correctly"? That's like saying "doing math wrong will give you better results, so long as you do it correctly."

In what way is it "wrong" if it works? You're manipulating by mixing moral and practical right & wrong.

I'm not even saying "you shouldn't live this way because it will end up harming others" (even though that is the case, you shouldn't.) No, YOU YOURSELF will get worse results in the long run.

My experience is totally different - my psychopatic traits gave me great results with women and also decent results in other areas of my life. And I have never suffered any kind of serious consequences.

It is not.

What about seducers who lie to women, cheat on them, treat them as temporary, disposable resource? How does that differ from psychopatic behaviors?

And if you have this genetic pressure I absolutely recommend to learn to control and live with these traits. Learn to use a fucking willpower and prefrontal cortex to compensate. Otherwise you will end up having really shitty life. Your social circle will end up being 100% composed of other dark triad nutcases because normal people will avoid you.

Certainly one needs to keep violent impulses in check. But I must say that in my case, it's not any kind of dramatic battle between control and lack of control... I generally live normally, without effort, while having an attractive psychopath/badboy "vibe".

And my social circle is mostly composed of people with moderate psychopatic traits like myself - not nutcases, but also not normal people. And of women who are attracted to psychopatic traits. I can be friends with normal people to some degree, but ultimatively our relations lack this deep understanding I get with other people with psychopatic traits or with women who are attracted to psychopaths.

Just lol at karea posting this in a forum full of dark tried... I do agree with both sides on one end with have jmlv a total shit of a human or trump... On the other end we have multiple guys in the forum that are high on the traits and are good at seduction but totally difficult people to interact with or get close to long term, you need to be careful if you know them or they will rape you in the ass or age you 50 years...but i will admit they are good with women but horrible at relationships...i agree with karea in that you can not have the traits, and be good too with women...i am super low on the dark triad traits, but know strategically when to use when needed... Your response is excellent...

Real psychos are very nice people.
They are socially savvy, and know how to perfectly emulate human emotions to extract everything they want from others.

I think most people coming to these forums and acting like nutcases are just lonely, sad, needy guys who exausted their tiny worthy elsewhere.
They cannot create value, so they think that coming to a place where getting women to bed is not frowned upon will grant them some kind of status.

Anyway, there's always the ignore button if they are causing you harm.

Here's the survey thread for reference

Skills point in there is key... Putting yourself first (besides her orgasm)

I think that is a survival trait ("honest signal"?) and could be the part the psychopath guy sees attraction from.

I think a psychopath means having empathy but not sympathy. It seems very clear most guys here are not truly that. Whenever someone comes in with a serious issue like suicidal thoughts or a major social circle problem, they get a lot of help especially from the elders.

As for Machiavellian... I recall Chase writing about research on attraction to "dominance AND pro-social behavior". Tracks with "protector of loved ones" DHV. Leader of the tribe vs a banished social outcast like Karea's saying.

The whole psychopathy thing is fascinating, and also extremely imprecise.

The first idea someone has about it is "someone who feels no empathy at all". What about someone who feels 5% empathy? What about 10%? What about 50%? Is 75% still psychopathic?

Secondly, what does empathy mean in this context? Surely psychopaths are good at creating models of other people's minds. Is that not empathy? So perhaps it's really sympathy, not empathy, that makes someone 'normal'. But what if someone feels too much sympathy, are they also psycho - pathic, and if not why not? And in terms of sympathy, how much is too much and how much is not enough?

Also, what about primary and secondary psychopathy, presumably they are wildly different in their natures, since one is created genetically and the other is a more or less 'normal' person reshaped by extreme circumstances. If the second is a functional adaptation in some way, what parts of it, or what degree of it, is to be desired? You have people like Jordan Peterson saying stuff like 'you should be a monster but keep it in check' and 'if you can get a disagreeable person socialized they are extremely capable at getting what they want'.

The whole psychopath thing (like most psychology and psychiatry) is a pseudo-concept, a label applied to a collection of symptoms which someone has determined should be grouped together in some way, with an extremely wide angle of interpretation, and loaded like a mule with cultural baggage.

And it seems like in popular culture, people cannot figure out whether they want to be one or not. A lot of people seem to think that all CEOs are psychopaths, that you need to 'get some of that' if you want to be one or to rise up in business, and there are all sorts of self-help books lauding various forms of emotional detachment.

And then on the other end of the spectrum you have stuff like 'how to win friends and influence people' which basically tells you to be ultra-empathetic to get the things you want in life (while perhaps implying some form of detachment..?).

That's not to mention the fact that (in my opinion) there is far, far more of an epidemic of nice guys who get run over, than of guys lacking empathy altogether.

Because of all the nonsense I've run into about psychopaths up until now, I basically switch off as soon as I hear the term, at least until I can figure out what is meant by it in that context.

It's far more important, in my view, to focus on two things:

- Be constructive to the world around you (that is, create functional and not disfunctional things).
- Focus on what you want, and adapt to what you need to become to get it.

If you can check those two boxes, more or less, then in my experience you're somewhere near the optimal path.

Michael Jordan is a psychopath.
So was Kobe.
So is Brady...all the greats tend to be if they want to achieve the bar they've set for themselves.
This is why they are usually loners who disregard anyone who is not at least striving to be extremely good in what thay are doing.

Once they retire though, they usually become more empathetic and good teachers/storytellers.

lol what possessed you to think a psychopath will read this and go “random Karea on the internet says I need help and should take ayahuasca, guess I will now”.

They’re literally the least likely of all people to do that 😂

Behavior of @Karea Ricardus D. shows the symptoms of fear-driven agression, fear-driven posturing.

I've noticed over the decades that people who "have a problem" with my psychopatic traits have high neuroticism and their reaction is fear-driven agression and/or they are narcissists and it's about competing with me.

Fear-driven agression is like when somebody is afraid of being attacked, so he starts to posture and try conveying "I'm not afraid of you!", while in reality the very reason for his behavior is that he is afraid. Happens a lot in dark alleys and when people encounter big dogs or wild animals. But it also happens on a more subtle level in human interactions, when highly neurotic people feel fear which is out of proportions compared to the actual situation, but they blame the external trigger, instead of their own oversensitivity. They become hostile and adopt a posture of "I'm not afraid of you! I'm dangerous myself! You should be afraid!" - when most of the time, the person who triggered them wasn't even thinking about conflict.

This fragment of his post shows strong symptoms of fear-driven agression, fear-driven posturing, attemp at intimidation:

"There is a third kind of person in the world.

There are also peaceful creatures that do have claws and teeth and will them bring out when it's necessary to destroy a predator."

This is typical fear-driven posturing in the style of: "I'm not afraid of you! I'm dangerous myself! You should be afraid!". And attempt to evoke fear in psychopaths.... 🙄 An attempt to "infect" psychopaths with the same emotion - fear, that they trigger in the author. 🤦🏻‍♂️

This is highly misguided, because:

1. Psychopaths are not susceptible to intimidation, to fear-inducing attempts.

2. A psychopath very likely has experienced such behavior before and there are high chances he will recognize it like I did. So instead of intimidating the psychopath, it often will be recognized as a sign of fear.

3. A psychopath has experience in being a psychopath and he knows himself how it works in real life - why would he treat seriously warnings about supposed consequences from somebody who doesn't have practical experience in being a psychopath?

4. The whole "conflict", "warzone" perspective is wrong and actually highly neurotic. Most people with psychopatic traits lead more or less normal lives... Life is not a warzone, and they're not hurting people left and right for no reason. Myself, I benefit greatly from my psychopatic "vibe", which many women are drawn to, without me having to do anything bad.

Just lol at karea posting this in a forum full of dark tried... I

Yes. Many seducers have Dark Triad traits. And behaviors like lying to women, cheating, sleeping with women who have boyfriends or husbands - it's all consistent with Dark Triad.

On the other end we have multiple guys in the forum that are high on the traits and are good at seduction but totally difficult people to interact with or get close to long term, you need to be careful if you know them or they will rape you in the ass or age you 50 years...

I've met such people in real life - good at seduction, but toxic as friends. One just can't establish stable good relations with them, because they try to exploit and backstab their friends.

But there are also people with psychopatic traits who are good friends and sometimes even good partners. Some are surprisingly good parents - they treat their children as the most important part of their "territory", they're aware of importance of psychology and going gentle on the child's developing mind - they know how a good parent should act and they do it.

I think that is a survival trait ("honest signal"?) and could be the part the psychopath guy sees attraction from.

I think it's part of it, but not a central element.

Many women have told me that they see me as somehow "dangerous" or "sharp" and they find it very attractive. I've been told for example I have told as a compliment that I have a gaze "like a gangster".

I've noticed myself that most other men, including experienced PUAs, seem somehow "castrated", lame, tame, harmless, dull, mundane, etc, compared to me.

Probably many people are watching "House of the Dragon", so I'll use it for comparison - I believe I make the impression of a decisive, sharp and vicious character like Aemond Targaryen or Daemon Targaryen.

I've been told my multiple people that I look like I might be a serial killer. And I think the appeal to women could be that they simply interpret this as strength and capability to eliminate other men - and perhaps also the capability to take the women by force or even kill them if they're disobedient. I suspect that on a primal level, a women feels that I could kill her man, perhaps kill their entire tribe - and then her survival (and optionally also the survival of her children) would depend on my attitude toward her. So she needs to quickly present herself as a sexually interested, obedient woman who will serve me well. There's no time to play games - she needs to quickly submit to the dangerous killer, show him utmost respect, make him happy sexually and in other ways. She can't freeze in fear, because this could look like she's resisting or is somehow damaged, useless to him - it needs to be fast arousal and fast submission. I think that might be why so many women are turned on by dangerous men. I think it could be a biological "survive by having sex with the dangerous killer" safety override.

BTW I'm talking about "vibe", not about behavior. There are men who act aggressively, but their vibe sucks and they're not attractive to women. And I don't have to do anything - I can be "sexy dangerous" while doing normal things like standing, sitting, walking, etc.

I have never seen "leader of men" type of guys get the same kind of immediate sexual arousal, immediate submission as I sometimes get from women.

And even if the effect doesn't have full strength, It still intrigues the woman. "Why does this guy make me feel a bit aroused and I'm having thoughts about kneeling before him and sucking his dick?". "What's different about him?".

The first idea someone has about it is "someone who feels no empathy at all". What about someone who feels 5% empathy? What about 10%? What about 50%? Is 75% still psychopathic?

Exactly. For example I have some empathy, I care about people in some situations, but in other situations I'm ruthless.

The whole psychopath thing (like most psychology and psychiatry) is a pseudo-concept, a label applied to a collection of symptoms which someone has determined should be grouped together in some way, with an extremely wide angle of interpretation, and loaded like a mule with cultural baggage.

I think that the psychology/psychiatry view is not that bad. I think it's the pop culture image that is the problem. People watch a movie about a serial killer and they think anybody with any level of psychopatic traits is like that.

I think we could create a "GC Couch" section and let people go crazy with their psycho theories.
As always, @Will_V is the only one with a fair take on the subject...

Honestly, I tend to be a good judge of character.
So if I see a hint that something is "off" with that person, I just distance myself from them.
Kinda of simple tbh.

And if you feel something is not right with you, just course correct (or seek professional help).

You have a tendency to be an armer chair psychologist and believe that you are always right(even at times when contradict other peoples experiences), i guess those are your psycopathic traits, but does not mean you are right in your arm chair psycologist diagnostics nor Karea for that matter or anybody including me...

Also even if you are a master psycho analyser and you can not control your psychopatic traits.... I would caution to use calibrations with the guys like karea that have a long history of contributions to the community.... Your behavior makes guys like him not want to stop posting and ghost the forum for long periods....

I am not fear driven posturing by your post, i am fear driven that guys like you are going to scare away good posters like karea..... All I am saying calibration... like he never mention you in this post by name he made a point that in his opinion a psychopatic traits is not something He finds is good for seduction... (we don't have to agree)...

Psychopath ironically proves Karea’s point by making a miscalculatedly overblown response in defense that alienates half the forum lol

Personally I have had only one experience with a psychopathic person, it was a guy I met daygaming in my city. I noticed he was an extremely focused approacher, zoning out everyone and everything else. He was methodical, taking notes after every approach, and I thought he would be a great person to learn with.

Spent some time with him and he told me nonchalantly that he has a live-in Japanese girlfriend who has no idea that he goes out during the day to pick up girls and pulls them when she is not home. He’d been doing this for over two years.

I asked him why he doesn’t just break up with her, he said she’s a good wife quality girl so he doesn’t want to lose her, but he wants more pussy so he just keeps it a secret. There was no hint of inner conflict or guilt in his voice. I didn’t point out that her finding this out would cause lifelong trauma.

Later he married her and blocked me on socials, presumably deciding she was the more optimal choice for his life. I guess she never found out about the truth of him.

An interesting experience.

To be honest the psychopathy has just accidentally gotten best PR of the dark triad traits, thanks to hollywood. ;)

Its definition is lack of empathy and low impulse control.
I mean properly raised, well socialized psychopath would be awesome on your side if you were storming enemy trenches WW1 style. Other than gutting some poor bastard with bayonet, that combination sounds quite useless to me, especially in seduction.

Compare that to grandiose narcissism, where you would basically have "I am the prize"-frame pre-installed basically at birth

Or machiavellianism where you would see social interactions as calculated social game to be won and learned, no matter what it takes, without ever hearing of red pill.

Jokes aside, there are studies suggesting that dark triad traits mainly attract other dark triad types. I don't think it's that simple, you just need the control and calibrate.

How is it psychopathic?

He’d been doing this for over two years.

There was no hint of inner conflict or guilt in his voice. I didn’t point out that her finding this out would cause lifelong trauma.

Later he married her and blocked me on socials, presumably deciding she was the more optimal choice for his life.
Hare's Psychological Checklist Factor 1: pathological lying, conning/manipulative, lack of remorse or guilt, shallow affect, callousness/lack of empathy, failure to accept responsibility for actions.

You have a tendency to be an armer chair psychologist and believe that you are always right(even at times when contradict other peoples experiences), i guess those are your psycopathic traits, but does not mean you are right in your arm chair psycologist diagnostics nor Karea for that matter or anybody including me...

I have decades of experience observing reactions to my psychopatic traits, including the fear-driven agression, fear-driven posturing. And I have spoken about it with many psychologists, few psychiatrists as well.

I've pointed out the symptoms and I think I have explained it well enough for people to understand.

he never mention you in this post by name he made a point that in his opinion a psychopatic traits is not something He finds is good for seduction...

1. First he attacks me out of the blue in another thread, calls me "fucked up psychopath" (Later edits his post.) Writes a total of 3 "unfriendly" posts before I have replied.

2. The next day he creates a thread attacking psychopaths, which includes:

- Incitement against psychopaths ("I would also say that the Seduction Community as a whole should stop giving quarter to these kinds of attitudes ").

- Camouflaged threats, intimidation attempts ("fuck you back so hard you are going to wish you had never been born. Be careful out there.", "I kill those fucking sons of bitches without a split second of hesitation or remorse.")

Psychopath ironically proves Karea’s point by making a miscalculatedly overblown response in defense that alienates half the forum lol

1. Are you aware that this is a continuation of a situation from another thread, where Karea called me "fucked up psychopath" out of the blue?

2. Even if you consider my reaction to be overblown, that does not prove Karea's point. The fact that psychopaths tend to have strong responses to insults, attacks, doesn't mean that psychopathy isn't an asset in seduction - of course it's an asset. Many women are attracted to the "dangerous guy" vibe.

Even outside seduction, I find the pros outweight the cons. The ability to judge people without sentiment, the ability to lie easily, to be relaxed under pressure - these things are useful. The non-seduction effects aren't as great as the seduction effects, but they are still positive.

Among men, some feel uneasy around me, but others like me more as somebody more "edgy" or something like that - it kind of balances itself and I simply hang out with people who like me.

Among women, the balance is tremendously positive.

So he got both the good wife and the temporary extra women on the side.... Seems like a victory to me. 🙂 Which is contrary to the OPs claims.

It's far from useless in my case. Many women sense that I'm "dangerous" and get turned on by it. it's a type of the "women like badboys" effect.

BTW Some women even send love letters to convicted murderers. In the case below, the guy murdered his pregnant wife and their two daughters.... And yet there are some women who send him love letters. Really, psychopatic traits can do very strange things to female brains.

Jokes aside, there are studies suggesting that dark triad traits mainly attract other dark triad types.

Not true in my case.

I've noticed that while I do attract some psychopatic women (and they treat me with deep respect, completely different from how they treat other men), I also attract a lot of normal women and a lot of submissive, sometimes also masochistic women.

I'll chime in here with something that seems kind of obvious: There's a pretty big difference between being truly psychopathic and being highly skilled in many areas, yet (relatively) emotionally detached from other people's feelings.

I think that it's funny how even clinical psychologists (etc.) can't fully agree on what makes a psychopath a psycho, sociopath sociopathic, etc. Plus, that whole field (especially in the west) is filled with political and financial motivations out the wazoo, so personally I wouldn't trust the -vast- majority of them when it comes to, well, anything tbh.

So I think rather than mapping out a bunch of traits which *also* overlap really well with highly skilled people who regularly push their limits and accept some of the brutal realities of life... It's best if we keep things simple:

A true psychopath intentionally and willingly delights in cruelty for its own sake - often directly, either physically or emotionally. (ie. reveling in physical violence against the weak, breaking a girl's heart just for fun, etc.)

A true sociopath intentionally and willingly wastes the time & energy of others - often indirectly, via methods that cause them to feel social pressure to conform and *seem* like they're good ideas. (ie. pushing an 18 year old kid to take out $150K in debt to go to college.)

We can also create cultures with psycho/sociopathic tendencies (ie. America), where people *think* they're doing "the right thing" when in reality they're causing decades worth of damage to their own children... Within the context of their own culture, these people would NOT be considered psycho/sociopaths (after all, who wants to admit that they're wrong / bad?), but if we compared them to other cultures where those socio/psychopathic tendencies are NOT present, they would be considered psycho/sociopaths.

I also think it's kind of weird that anyone would willingly brand themselves as "psychopathic" as a kind of badge of honor - and stranger still that anyone would look up to people who do that, hoping to emulate a level of what amounts to calculated cruelty.

That said, experience has shown me that anyone who continuously challenges themselves and deals with enough people will eventually develop the skills necessary to detach themselves emotionally from most outcomes, and will also gain the *ability* to do some truly dark things *when necessary* - yet make the choice NOT to as a default, partly because it's not effective but I think mostly because we don't revel in cruelty for its own sake.

*That* particular set of characteristics I think goes beyond "dark triad" and "psychopathy", and it's that set of characteristics that I think people *want* to emulate, but can't bring themselves to let go of their personal hangups / baggage in order to do so.

TL;DR: Why the fuck would you willingly brand yourself as psychotic?
