So it hasn't even been the full first week of collage for me (Oh, by the way i'm a high schooler in collage XD it's complicated but my last posts clears it up a bit) and trouble already seems to have found me (well, at least I'll have more stories to write about later). So, the way the schedule works is pretty cut and dry: 8:45am- 3:00pm in the same room, with the same five other people for every class, accept we get an hour off to anywhere for lunch and ten minutes between classes. So now that you have the basic campus logistics I'll get to the background.
The truth is I knew this girl was into me before we even stepped into class on day one (the next day currently will be 3). I saw her at orientation the day before. I was cracking puns here and there and she'd always laugh (yes, even at the puns that where bad even as puns). I sit in the front, she'd sit somewhere she could see me clear as day. Teacher cracks a joke? Here eyes go to me. Walking with her friends in the hall? I'd always get a look and a smile out of nowhere from all of them just after a laugh. (I just read up on the article Colt wrote on reading people better to brush up a bit before all this, so don't mind me if i'm paying too much attention to nothing. I'm still memorizing the lesson but if anyone wants to add on, go for it. Anyways, you get the point. She's interested, clear as night and day even to the average joe.
I actually wasn't the one to approach her, remember repeat readers: I'm still going through the process of getting over approach anxiety (again, it's been awhile since i've done any approaches). She was actually one of the few brave enough to approach me first (ironically i'd later discover she herself has anxiety (not approach anxiety) ). Nothing much happened, it's a class setting so we really just did a little deep diving. (No number though, bad Wanderer!)
Today, I noticed she wasn't paying as much attention as the first day but I still got plenty and a little more when I stopped caring. Although she started do the same with the other two guys in my class (who both have girlfriends and hardly ever even look up from their phones) which I didn't mind. It happens. But then lunch comes, and we head off separately to the office to get our passes for free lunch (first week). I got there first only to turn around to see her standing there with the sexy facial expression going (if you haven't checked out chase's article for facial expressions, I recommend giving it a good read). We grabbed our vouchers and left for lunch, along the way she seems pretty curious about me but she ends up doing most of the talking anyways (which is a good thing, I know). So we grabbed our lunch, sat down at a booth and started talking. Eventually her phone rings with the usual text ring most people have, turns out she has a boyfriend. Can't say I was surprised, she had only mentioned him to everyone else in the class. Her friend was there with us since they're hard to separate in this case so they started talking and eventually something about a ring came up.
This is the part where I realize: I suck at remembering to check for rings (not the first, but this one's a little different so stick with me here) because I saw this big ol' sparkly ring on her left hand's ring finger. Turns out that boyfriend she's been seeing for ten years now, is actually her fiance with no day set. I couldn't help but say it "wait, we talking about that ring?" with a bit of a raised voice (hey, hard to hold it back when it's actually a shocker). So I made it the topic of the conversation as you do and moved things along naturally until someone her friend knew came along and offered cigarettes (never did any drugs or anything, my grandfather was killed by that shit when I was a kid but it's common enough so I really don't give a shit if someone else chooses to do that stuff) the campus, not being friendly to this sort of thing, meant she had to head somewhere else to smoke while I finished my lunch. Before leaving she said she'd see me in class, later today. Nothing much happened after that. The day ended with the timer just about running out and me feeling it. So I took a look around campus. It's pretty clear there's plenty of others around I could approach but again, approach anxiety is a real kick in the head this time around (I suspect it's because there's a bit of trauma behind it but I can't be sure).
Anyways, I realize oneitis is a thing to be concerned about here but I think I've learned my lesson there already. That out of the way with, I'd like to know what do you guys think of this? This still a moral gray area since they're just engaged? (For the record, I prefer to keep away from married women but I do have a tendency to miss the ring sometimes.) Could she just be an orbiter? If so, how do you know if someone is? Thanks in advance
