I live in West Michigan and am looking for a wingman and/or mentor.
Trying to find how to message you proper.I'm turning 34 in a few weeks. Luckily I checked my email and got notified of your post in the thread. I don't know how to exchange contacts without making it public though...
If your in your 70's you lived through my favorite era of music. You'd have been kinda young but did you get to see any of the classic 60's bands? I worship Jimi Hendrix and Jefferson Airplane.Dudes, if you get 10 posts in, you get promoted to "space monkey" and can send PMs with the letter icon in upper right. So, you could discuss public information here until you get up to 10 posts each.
I'll be passing through Michigan in July. Be glad to hang out a bit, but I'm in my 70's so my concerns are way different.

Super helpful, thanks! So what are your concerns as someone in his 70's?Dudes, if you get 10 posts in, you get promoted to "space monkey" and can send PMs with the letter icon in upper right. So, you could discuss public information here until you get up to 10 posts each.

Truly appreciate the response and god damn I’m glad I asked!I saw very few large concerts. I'm friends with -and play music with - a few people that have performed with Jorma and Jack from the Airplane, though.
My brother saw Jefferson Airplane in 1968. They had a little-known-at-the-time English band open up for them: The Who.
Mainly I was into hot local bands - who almost never make the national scene.
No one could rock a stadium like Led Zepelin - but there are a helluva lotta bands that can rock a bar room harder than a stadium is capable of rocking The dudes playing those shows will shake your hand - and they really mean it when they thank you for coming.
I don't think anything can beat a great musician singing and an acoustic guitar with no amplification. A party at Paul McCartney's house is an order of magnitude beyond what people pay hundreds of dollars for a nosebleed seat.
I did see the Grateful Dead back when Pigpen was still alive. The song the Dead played most was "Me and My Uncle," which was written in a motel room. John Phillips (Mamas&Papas), with Judy Collins and Stephen Stills singing harmony.
I imagine sitting in the corner and smoking a doob while that happened would be better than any show I've seen.
