Not sure if this is an outing report, field report or a Fuck up.
I haven't completely beaten depression yet, but I finally managed to secure a job (gym) and life is starting to look up. So there was a carnival happening in a church ground and since I was there for church anyway and saw a cute girl I was might as well start today.
Her friend and her bf were flirting and she was sitting down and looking bored (on the church porch), I could only see her from behind and she had some good choice in clothes (goth like) but I wanted to see her face so I moved 20ft (6m) in front of her (because of the architecture it was the only way without being too obvious). When I turned around to look at my surrounding (and her) I saw her looking at me and immediately looked down when my vision was in her direction.
1st mistake was not taking that as an approach invitation and going in then and there, I already had an opener (fashion sense) but I got nervous.
Anyway I dropped my parents home and went back and they weren't there anymore so I went and explored the carnival and saw another cute girl with good fashion sense (pink) and a great ass, but she was with a group of friends (maybe sisters, cousins). I think she saw me and I wasn't sure, not sure if she gave an approach invitation but I got an odd about something.
Anyway I was trying (and failing to illicit more approach invitations) by walking past both goth and pink and seeing if they give any invites, maybe that was a mistake because of the carnival it was noisy and crowded but I am relatively tall and buff that in most cases people would see.
Anyway no invites happened and not even eye contact so I believe going direct would have been better, the pink girl left and after ~1.5 hrs walking and checking the carnival I made a shitty attempt at the goth who was trailing past her friend and the friend's bf we were walking in the opposite directions I can't remember the exact details but it felt like I was approaching from her left and was going to the right side of her, I usually walk in crowds by putting my hand out in front and leading any oncoming traffic to my preference but she cut me off to walk in front and I during that time I greeted her.
She walked with her head down and I wasn't sure she heard me or purposely ignored me (in hindsight most likely ignored because I didn't take the 1st opportunity) and I said hello after she had her back to me, damn really felt like a loser there.
Any tips or advice? The carnival will be there for 2 or 3 weeks so I'm planning to get in some practice there. Also it feels a bit ghetto the stalls and some of the crowds, and some groups involve families and I've been to more upscale carnivals in the same country, I don't know it that would change future approaches
