A girl (or anyone really) enters the room and you naturally say hello. Your 'hello' gets blanked. It's gets blanked either because they're focusing on saying hello to /catching up with the other person in the room, or because she's being bitchy.

You think they've blanked you, but then a very brief moment later she gives you a very polite hello, which seems rather phoney because as you thought you've been blanked. I feel like this can be used as a subtle way of lowering your state. Because they're not blanking you, but they're showing to you that you come last on their priorities. It's also the sort thing that if you talk about, that people would say you're paranoid.

The other thing about it, is that while they're having that brief interaction with their friend you're effectively on standby... waiting and wondering when they'll say hello to you.

Happened to me recently and I didn't bother diverting much of my attention from what I was doing for the second time I'd to say 'hello'. What do you think of this? and have you ever encountered something similar?

You just need to establish eye contact before saying hello. You are not always going to be the person they first see or want to see first. Don't greet them until you have their attention. if THEN they divert their attention, then they are being passive aggressive.

The eye contact is a good point. Sometimes I'm just too lazy to make eye contact and view saying hello as a box ticking exercise.
