Any of you have experiences in a college bar and know how things work there?

So I have not spent much time in college bars but I decided I am going to give try them out. It seems like to me most girls that come there come with certain guys and leave with those same guys. Most of my friends that I have do not go out to bars so I don't have much experience with gaming at college bars. I have read that they are more like a mirage, that approaching girls outright may be creepy so I want to know what I should do to get girls in a college bar.

Any advice or tips or experiences from those of you who have tried to approach girls in college bars and had success?
