Approaching girls from highschool???

So I was at the gym yesterday when as I was walking out of the basketball court I notice this blonde chick with a nice body starring at me. I take note of this and proceed to the workout area where she happened to be and started my work out. In between my sets I would casually look over because she seemed to be pretty cute, then I realized something. I knew this girl in high school. We never really talked a whole lot in high school and were never particularity close. However, it seemed as though she wasn't sure if I remembered her or if she even knew it was me since I was looking a little different. She was looking even better then she did in high school which I did not think would happen. So I continue my sets and notice her orbiting around me but I do not approach I am to into my head and feel like I shouldn't since she was still continuing her workout. I then decide to go upstairs and continue to finish my workout; it happened to be some pull ups on the other side of the gym next to a water fountain. Towards the end of my set I notice her on the other side of the gym with water jug in hand. She sets it down and starts heading straight for me. I then didn't know what to say so I panicked turned my head down and pretended like I didn't notice. She walks towards me with a quizzical look on her face then just takes a quick sip of water, turns around and proceeds to make her way to the exit. At this point I feel like a total bitch and pretty mad at myself for atleast not attempting. I am sure I may see her one more time but don't know if I should even approach after that. Maybe its all in my head... idk.

This is what the boards are for i guess. If anyone has any insight on what I could have done it would be greatly appreciated. Also how would you approach a girl whom you may have known before but were never really that close?

I keep seeing guys who lose opportunities like this because they are so concerned about what they were going to say.

if a girl is giving you an invitation to approach, it doesn't matter what you say! you could have just said "hi" and everything would have gone well. you could have said "omg I'm so tired" and it would have gone well. girls dont even pay attention to words. they pay attention to body language and stuff.

just say something!! it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of the interaction.

Hey thanks guys I just need to eliminate AA and remember to at the end of the day "just approach". I was just to into my head and didn't allow myself to have a great experience with a girl.
