I remember on the original topic in the comments, Chase said that if the person lives far away, NOT to flirt message her often, and it was better just to wait until you were next in the same area.

If this is the case, will attraction expire a lot more slowly in such cases? Or is it a case that it subsides, and then reawakens when they are you?

Attraction can expire any time but this is not the case here. It's rather the interaction. It's always good to leave a conversation when it's hot. Because when you reengage her later, she is more receptive.
