So i'm out last night at bar DJ'ing upstairs where people are dancing.
I'm on the decks and there's some nice girls dancing smiling at me as often happens to me being the DJ. One girl comes over and requests some terrible music, I take the piss out of her a bit and we laugh a bit.
I finish my set and come off the decks. So i see the girl who requested bad tunes, make a little joke about it, but the interaction goes nowhere really as I don't follow up with much. I'm standing next to the decks see another girl requesting a tune, ask her about what shes requesting. We end up having a decent chat but the convo is not particularly inspiring, Who you out with? Where U from? What nights u like going to? etc etc. I manage to keep the conversation going but hadn't really built up enough rapport to ask for a number and then she has to leave anyway....interaction again goes nowhere really.
Finally I see another girl whos clearly looking for it, chatting to all sorts of men. Strike up another boring convo, who you here with?, where you from? etc. She is giving me very little to go on although seems quite drunk and wants to chat. Start lightly touching her and she seem a bit interested but as the conversation dries up it leads to me standing around and not saying too much, i also try to get physically a bit close and she eases off, although shes still standing there as if waiting for me to say something interesting, but had clearly lost interest. In the end I say i'm going to the bar and leave. All the while the music is playing around us people are dancing etc.
Anyway this seems to be one of my main problems. I get a bit drunk and find it much easier to strike up a conversation but then once i'm in the conversation I find it difficult to get past boring conversation sometimes and never make it clear that i like the girl or try and escalate etc as i don't feel like i've built up enough verbal rapport. Obviously i do a bit of light touching etc but this is basically the norm at these places anyway.
So how can i move past generic conversation and escalate when sometimes girls aren't giving you much to go on in terms of conversation?
