Go for it. The chance of lays and one night stands opportunities is umatchable in any other jobs. Not to mention making high value connects and having the one of the best places in town locked up is great opportunity. Some bartenders are pretty stoic and aloof yet still hold power in the place so hhaving a extroverted personality is not always required. Since u 18, you wont be able to bartend (if u in the U.S), but barbacking or being a boucer/host is a great way to get your foot in the door. Anyway, nightlife is a great way to gain confidence and shed your shyness, not to mention you can see game and social dynamics everyday. You can quit anytime if its not for you. I would give it a try though.

According to a bartender working at a swanky lounge he said chicks just threw themselves at him. He said that he worked as a bartender at a tourist town and was banging new chicks on the regular, every week.Tall, model good looks and a very good conversationalist. Dude was the definition of Sprezzatura. Plus,add the night and alcohol, girls will flock to men with power/high value like bartenders, promoters, managers, DJ's. Of course you have to put effort also and practice your verbal game and have your fundamentals on point. Also, don't bang regulars. Could bite you in the ass. Ask girls where they come from and shit. Oh, also people in that industry tend to sleep with each other also, so don't be surprised if you see that happening...

P.S The money in tips is astounding btw if you are a popular bartender

The thing is that people go to bars to socialize and their first port of call is basically the bartender. I travel by myself a lot, and one of the main determiners of whether I like a bar and will go back there is whether the bartender puts me at my ease and makes me comfortable. That's not to say that the bartender should be one's only recourse, Altair when he was active on these boards would go out to nightgame and because he was quite underconfident would glue himself to the bartender to the point of pissing him/her off, but my point is part of the role of bartender is to warm people up socially while they have their first drink or whatever, or chat with customers when it is quiet so they don't leave before more customers arrive. Considering this you will meet ALOT of people and have plenty of opportunity to get numbers etc.
