Hey man,
I was an awkward kid. I spent a lot of time just doing my own thing. I wasn't weird or anything but I used get a little overwhelmed in groups and seriously out of my dept in talking to a girl I liked.
I've really only overcame it a lot in recent times. And to be honest there's nothing I ever read in a book or on a website that REALLY fixed it besides sheer oxposure to people.
I worked a lot on building a good social circle this past year and also on meeting women and both together have worked wonders. When you're at the beginning you kind of have to bite the bullet. Talk to people, accept your awkwardness, then do it again and again until you're not in your head thinking about it anymore and are actually present in the conversation.
The point is to not take it seriously. If you feel awkward, embrace it at first and just know you're pushing your comfort zone so that it will become normal the more you do it.
Thats about all there is.
