So guys I'm stuck in my hometown of about 3000 population. It has a small market where you find 1 young woman against perhaps 50 or 100 men. I'm not kidding. Every evening I go out, I see 0 to 3 or 4 young girls at max. I'm in India, small town, so women don't really come to the market much. There are no good cafes, zero malls, zero movie theaters, and zero parks. You get the idea! As a result, it's almost impossible to meet and connect with women if you aren't in a college or in their social circle. I'm out of college now so don't have that option. Young girls mostly dress in jeans tshirt, but are quite conservative I suppose. Dating is not really a thing here and girls usually hide it from parents if they have a boyfriend.
Despite all this, I just wanted to try cold approaching to test the waters, and also because I can really use some female texting buddies. I approached 2 girls before today. One, 16 year old, was sitting with her friend and we talked for about 1 minute. She turned cold fast so no number close. The second girl was in a shop with her aunt and I politely asked the aunt first if I could talk to the girl. The aunt let me talk to her after a bit of objection. The girl was flattered at first and the interaction probably lasted 2 minutes, but no number close. Note that I didn't even ask for number in both of these cases because they turned cold.
The reason I post this is because something unexpected happened today. I approached a girl sitting outside a salon by herself. Talked to her, got her name, shaked hands and the interaction lasted about 3 minutes. She told me she was visiting my town because her uncle lives here, and that her brother was inside the salon shaving. Later when I asked if she would like to stay in touch via WhatsApp she said "What are you saying" as if trying to stay in touch with her was the most strange proposition ever. Then I bid her good day and left. Shit gets strange in the following part.
I bought some things and returned via the same route, and I see the girl I approached standing with her brother outside the salon. Looking at me the brother asks "Is this the guy?" So I stopped. Now the guy gets angry and says "Where do you stay?", "Do you know her?“,"Do you get crazy just looking at women?“,"I'll give you one slap". I stayed calm, mostly maintained eye contact and answered some things he asked politely. Then left. It didn't get physical. What I found strange is that I was polite with the girl and she seemed to be okay talking to me. Maybe she told her brother that I eve teased her or something, I don't really know.
However, the question I'm left with after the incident is, should I even bother approaching women again in my pathetic excuse of a hometown? The thing is, I often do not get physically attracted to the few girls I see here. They are mostly unattractive and don't take care of their looks too much. They don't need to, given that dating scene is not present. I just wanted to see if getting numbers is possible here or not, and hopefully get some female texting buddies. I have no intention of sleeping with the women of this town or making them my girlfriends. Also I thought maybe if I keep approaching my game will stay sharp and when I move to a city after a few years, I'll have an easier time. But today I thought about it and I guess it will make no impact on my skills in a new city because the girls are much more open there and the social situation different. I feel like approaching may simply be a waste of time and energy here. Also judging by today's confrontation, things may even get ugly someday.
So, should I even keep approaching, or hold my horses until I set foot in a big city where girls and people in general are more open?
