Guys,
I need a fairly cheap camera but having good enough quality to do advertising.

I'm thinking something around $100.
Any recommendation?

You won't get anything other than a point-and-shoot for that price. However, you can find some used options for entry level DSLR cameras that are pretty cheap.

Right now, I use my sister's old camera which is a Nikon D3000

Amazon has it at $469 right now but honestly, I wouldn't pay that. For a little more you could get something better.

But I did find one for $171

Here's another that's still in bid, currently $80 but it does have two days left on it:

I would like to ask, what are you going to use it for? I know you said advertising but what kind of advertising?

Lastly; if you go the dslr route then just about everyone agrees that you should spend most of your budget on the lens and buy a cheaper camera body. I agree with this as well. Cheaper cameras can perform really amazing with a great lens but the reverse is rarely true. But as long as you know what you're doing then a cheap camera and a cheap lens can still perform.

There's a cool youtube video series that has professional photographers take pictures with absolutely horrid cameras (some were actually toy cameras) and they still managed to do pretty well.

TL;DR
What are you going to be advertising?
Point-and-Shoot will be cheap, and with good skills you can still do pretty well
If you buy a DSLR then buy a cheaper camera and splurge on the lens

you miss 100% of the shots you don't take

Mostly for a teaching series for a niche programming language.
There are people wanting such programmers but I'm not really standing out from other developers in the same niche.
Also there are some developers need testers. Apparently they don't want to cold approach people to test their apps. So I meet people, test their app, record, and give it to them.

But yeah, for now my iPhone with a tripod should be enough.

Later on when I make some money, I can invest in a serious lens.

I guess I'm not understanding what you're actually taking pictures of?

Is it the actual programmers who are programming? In which case I most definitely have recommendations for you as that's my area of expertise. Not just with gear but with how to actually take pictures of them as well.
