I think this fight is not only a loss for McGregor inside the ring but also a massive loss outside the ring. McGregor prided himself on being the alpha that does not care and breaks the law at his own will (jumping the fence before the Aldo fight and the bus incident). Now, McGregor cannot play that act anymore because Khabib is the bully and McGregor is the victim. It is the equivalent of the toughest kid in your class getting beat up so bad that he now has to run to the teacher to save him.
Khabib not only destroyed Connor inside the ring but also outside of it, he is no longer the alpha badboy anymore. What Khabib did was wreck McGregor, taught one of his teammates Dillon Danis or whatever (guy that will not amount to anything in the MMA anyways) a lesson he would never forget and now has Dana and the UFC wanting him banned for being criminal. In many ways, Khabib is the official badboy of the UFC who has the sport on its toes because he delivered in a huge way and proved himself to be someone you do not mess with. Dana is livid, the UFC is livid and now all of a sudden they will pretend like the sport had rules in the first place. There were no "rules" when McGregor was doing his antics but now McGregor is the victim who has to run to Dana to save him, his image is completely destroyed.
On another note, I saw the fight at a bar last night and took home a broad wearing an Ireland shirt, more on that in an upcoming lay report!
