Continuing my first topic viewtopic.php?f=3&t=10407
Any advice on what's popular and trendy right now in terms of fashion?
I mean like Snapbacks, sneakers (nikes?), sweatshirts, or any particular brand being on it's high note of popularity among young people now? Example photos would be cool
Every opinion is appreciated.

Hey qqbot,

I'm not any expert on american fashion trends (I live in Norway), but I've spent an extensive amount of my holidays on the west coast and I was recently been on exchange in Canada.
From what I know and have seen, the generic high schooler can't dress for shit. Like fpt2k14 said, your main goal should be to fit in with the cool kids while offering some kind of value.

The "cool kids" fashion style depends on what type of school you're attending. I know the OBEY brand has been popular (caps and hoodies), but I don't know if it still is. I would reccomend keeping your style very simple but cool and then later adjust your style to fit in with the popular crowd. Don't really like giving advice on "how to fit in" since I've always rebbeled against conformist shit. But let's be honest, the easiest way to access the hottest girls in high school is to hang out with people on top of the social hierarchy.

Now on to some fashion:
ASOS is a great online shop for young fashion.
This is their holiday collection: http://www.asos.com/Beach-Bound/Cat/pgecategory.aspx?cid=14627&CTARef=Shop|cat|holiday

Really like this simple outfit for example

Basically what I recommend is simple tees, shorts, retro watch. I also love a light bomber http://www.asos.com/asos/asos-bombe...lstyles=521&gridsize=3&gridrow=1&gridcolumn=3
Here are som backpack examples: http://www.asos.com/ASOS/ASOS-Faux-...6&sort=-1&clr=Grey&totalstyles=855&gridsize=3 http://www.asos.com/ASOS/ASOS-Backp...rt=-1&clr=Burgundy&totalstyles=853&gridsize=3
Lastly there is also apparently a current trend in wearing cartoon stuff, inspired by 80's skater culture. Check it out http://www.asos.com/Fashion-Online-13/Cat/pgecategory.aspx?cid=13522&CTARef=Shop|newin|cartoon

Hope this helped! Just PM me if you'd like any other fashion tips :)

I’ve lived in norcal my entire life, but go down to socal a lot and noticed a couple differences. It seems that guys in norcal are wearing more sports attire (b/c our teams at amazing - go warriors!) and socal wears more urban. I graduated from college, but take a few night classes sometimes and see a lot of trends around that age group. Here’s the type of fashion I see (and myself wear) around places like malls, restaurants, and concerts.

Casual trends
-shorts above knee for athletic or casual (like the last poster showed)
-watch with strand bracelet combo. Even when going to places where people dress up more, I see it, but with nicer watches and bracelets.

-snapback hats, but not just sports brands (try plain styles like H&M).
-plain and bright colored v-necks pretty much replaced the logo craze that was going around 10 years ago.

-tank tops with the pocket showing in the front

-vans, vans, and vans ALLL day for shoes
-High top colored socks with shorts

Nicer trends
-floral shirts are HUGE right now. The type that are a t-shirt canvas of plant foliage or flowers.

-colored thin khaki pants like from Zara (think red, dark yellow, green)

-short-sleeve button ups buttoned all the way to the top are everywhere. Try to get a bold design (I like the long sleeve better though)

If I had to pick the top things to get under $75, it would be the H&M snapback hat, plain v-neck t-shirt, and vans shoes. Also look at the prankster vitaly zdorovetskiy. Being on camera all the time, he HAS to stay up-to-date on all the latest fashion in the area. He’s my fashion icon right now b/c I am similar looking with light skinned with blonde hair, plus he’s freakin’ hilarious. And he’s from Russia and moved to LA as well.

Thanks to you both for such insightful information. What would you tell about Nike\Adidas sweatpants? Those with cuffs on the end, makes them look stylish and fit legs well. Also, are Nike sneakers still popular, or going out of trend? something like this

also, I'd like to hear more of your opinion about edgy looks. What do young women dig now?

The shoes and sweats combo you are talking about sounds like casual/gym-wear. I wouldn't wear those to the places we mentioned earlier. Since you mentioned college, having clothes to wear around the dorm sounds like a good idea. I do not see guys in nike shoes unless they are coming from the gym or other activity. It looks like you posted a picture of a cross-training nike shoe for tennis or basketball.

If you are going casual with the sweatpants, why not buy a shoe more specialized like slippers:

I went out with a sophomore college girl in the fall and was invited to her dorm housing fresh/soph students. I saw guys wear slippers and sweats lounging around, but changed clothes when going outside.

Idk about La but in Sj I have seen a trend in white shoes mostly for summer. I just bought these shoes and I have to say I seen women check them out while I rock them on occasion. I go to a community college in nor-cal (its hot) where the dress code is usually casual but I stand out from most of the crowd in a good way. I like these because they don't look like gym shoes or communicate that I been at the gym like (nikes, some Adidas etc.) I wouldn't recommend using them for everyday since they can get easily dirty. These go for around 60 bucks and go great with some jeans! http://www.slamcity.com/media/catalog/p ... g_9007.jpg

Those shoes are clean as hell. I just moved from SJ, but saw a lot of high tops. I still have not found a good cleaner for shoes made out of cloth. Put them in the washer?

I don't dare put them in the washer! I heard that they have been know to turn yellow. Im still curious about it tho. They are kinda getting dirty...I guess its almost time for a new pair. As for cleaner I just use a little bit of Baking soda with water and try to clean as much as I can It works a little bit but not so well. There are companies that specialize in shoe cleaning and accessories although I haven't looked into it much. I also heard of a spray that repels water and all sorts of liquids that you can spray on the shoes!
