Current social life situation in high schools

A little introduction here:
Been living in Russia my whole, short life. At the end of august I'm moving to Cal, LA. New school (last class), new appartment, new friends, new everything (need to notice that I'm not all by my own, parents are with me)
What worries me is that social life in LA might differ from Moscow's. I guess you need to have at least a facebook account to become somewhat of a popularity in a new school, or fundamentals will do everything on their own? Plus, I'm interested in teens reaction about the fact that I was living and studying in a country USA has political problems with atm. Maybe nowadays teens dont give a fuck about it (some still do here)
What would your recommendations in a whole new social circle be?

High school kids just want to drink, smoke weed, and hook-up. Offer this to them.

Do you have a house where you could invite people to? Awesome.
Do you have alcohol (or access to it), and marijuana? Awesome.

What you do is, watch the popular kids. Watch how they talk, how they dress and where they hang out. You need to fit in with them. High school kids are too insecure to befriend someone who is too different from them. Just be cool. Make small talk in classes. Slowly befriend them. Then one day, offer up your place to them for a shindig. The more you do it, the "cooler" you become because you begin to amass high social value. Soon, you're the man of the school and every girl wants your dick.

E-Z. High school game is cake. Beware of your reputation, that is EVERYTHING in high school.
