Here's your chance to laugh if you're looking for a little light relief!
It had to happen sooner or later. I've had at least three near misses, and I'm not the most observant guy out there, to put it mildly
I was just on my way back from lunch with a platonic female acquaintance (the result of an accidental cold approach a few months back where the view from the rear was intriguing but the front was disappointing). Anyway, I swung by an indoor mall / food court with a lot of office buildings nearby. At a table I spotted a very promising blonde, seated alone eating her lunch, and I hung around out of sight for a bit to figure out an approach angle (I'm not good at seated approaches - yet).
I took a table outside and soon enough I saw through the glass that she had finished eating and was on her way out. I realized I needed to approach immediately or risk losing the window.
I encountered her at the door. I went direct, good and hard, complimenting her dress and the matching of it to her toenail polish and eye color. No holds barred. She took it well, to all appearances delighted.
I introduced myself and took her hand. But when she said her name, an uncommon, distinctive name, I had a shocking realization. This was an intern in our company who had just started the day before! I had even been in a meeting with her where she was introduced (with a lot of other people present).
I recovered okay, telling her how I remembered the name and apologizing for not having recognized her. I think she realized it was genuine.
Well, anyway, that's one way to open a girl you like at work...
And she won't forget this colleague in a hurry
