Did this teasing gone too far or is society just giving me flak?

I recently saw a picture of an old lady friend on Facebook who had filled out a bit.

So, I decided to create a joke about it, but people have been giving me some flak about it. Read it and tell me if this is teasing or teasing gone wrong.

I remember a time in junior high, during band practice, when you leaned over to me and whispered in my ear that “one day you would have a pair of C cups.” Being not impressed at all, I leaned back over and nonchalantly replied that “my mom had a pair of tea cups back at the house.” At which instance you, in a most begrudgingly manner, retorted back that you hoped she’d break her back! Anyhow, setting the past aside, I, in light of this photo, completely understand what you were trying to convey to me that day. I’m impressed!

In my mind one would look at the misunderstanding created between C cup and tea cup and see the humor in the situation, but so far I've just received "^^Perv".

Is this a joke/ teasing gone awry or are the social police just trying to give me flak?

I suppose I should avoid making such jokes on social media...

C&R,

You went a bit overboard with this one. The first thing you want to consider is that women are very sensitive about their bodies, and that's in more than one way. Even if it was in person, it's considered a social faux pas to directly point out changes in a girl's body. It's fine to make general compliments about how "stylish" she looks or specific compliments on changes in non-sexual areas (such as a new hairstyle or new shoes/accessories), but commenting on the growth of her boobs is definitely going to get you flak from not only her but other people as well.

Now, even in person, you can sometimes get away with stuff like this, especially if the girl is already very attracted to you (and you do it in private). But on social media, anything you say to a girl is amplified by a factor of one-hundred. It's like taking a giant megaphone and broadcasting what you say to ALL of her friends and family. So whatever small, personal insult she might have taken to it in person gets amplified by one-hundred -- suddenly it's not such a small insult.

When you're wondering about whether or not sexual compliments like this are okay to say to a woman, one of the best things you can do is stop and ask yourself, "would James Bond ever say this to a woman?" If you decide the answer is 'no,' then you probably have your answer as to whether or not it's okay. =)
