Met a girl recently at a wedding. Didn't think much of her the first time or two talking, but she came over to me at some point when walking from the dancefloor the the bar. I'd been standing alone watching the crowd dance. We also talked at the very end of the night when the buses were about to bring the crowd back from the hotel to the city.
I knew I was due to meet her the next day, so I'd been fantasising about her a little bit... just imagining what I could've said and that. I think the more you fantasise the more nervous you're made when you do see the girl again because you end up in a different situation. When I saw her at the BBQ the next evening it happened to be during a moment when I was a bit of a loose end. I looked over and saw her having a lot of fun with some others. This suddenly made me doubt myself. I'd previously been under the impression that she didn't know too many at the wedding, and thought that this would stand to me. But when I saw her having fun like that, it just briefly took away the confidence. I thought I'd have based on when I'd been thinking about... as in I'd only be willing to ask her out assuming I felt that confident. I guess this is the downside to fantasising.
Shortly later, I of course, ended up talking to others and having fun, and didn't feel like a loose end any more. I ended up talking to her as well a bit later, and thankfully it felt just like the way I'd remembered between us. She ended up telling me about how she got some sun burn just in one patch on her back and that she'd fake tan on. I demonstrated that I couldn't see any division lines where the fake tan ended around the neck and the wrist and couldn't see any. She didn't seem to react to me stating this so I used this as an excuse the run my fingers along her wrist. She seemed comfortable with this so I licked my index and held up her wrist with the other hand and rubbed it wet. She of course pulled away while laughing. She said "that's a bit much". I just held her gaze as if to say "deal with it". Her friend (who'd been sitting on her other side) said that that was disgusting. I said "no, what would be disgusting would be if I put it back in my mouth". She said "well okay yeah". I then said "I think that's a real tan, and you're just being modest". I then quickly referred back to something she'd mentioned about 2 minutes early to defuse things properly. I was glad with this physical contact as it allowed me to act like it wasn't a big deal to me, and still demonstrate that I was interested in her. Because up until that point there was definitely no flirting between us so I was glad that that happened, and that if I were to later ask her to go somewhere with me, that it now wouldn't sound unexpected.
We got separated and later that night when we were talking again I asked her to go somewhere with me for tea. She said yeah, and actually to go before I did. That gave me a rush! We found a place and about 15 minutes into talking, some others from that BBQ group (which included an aunt and a friend of hers) were walking home drunk along the main street and joined us! Nothing happened in the end and I'd to get a plane the next day. I still enjoyed the time with her. Being honest I think I got a bit lucky with being able to think of things to say when I got physical with. If I tried to change the conversation anytime before I made that last line about her being modest, it would have looked to forced. I waited it out for just the right amount of time (to show I was comfortable with it), and then changed the topic. Usually after pulling a stunt like that, all I'd be thinking would be "yikes, what's going to happen now?". But she just looked at me to see how comfortable I'd be after it. It did take a lot of courage to 'gently' grab her wrist like that. If she pulled it away immediately if would've looked bad!
Thanks for reading.
