TLDR: Can girls keep themselves as orbiters pretending to be friends for years when they actually like you?
Full story:
So went out last night and for the sake of anonymity saw my friend Jane.
Jane is a great girl and we've been friends for like 4 years now. She's fairly attractive but not my type in the slightest.
We've always been platonic, I've never made a move on her and she's always seen me around girls. I've also slept with her cousin and everything was cool.
"Out of bounds" friend
Anyway I question it before laughing and saying whatever
I mention this to @topcat and he's convinced she likes me. I'm a little dismissive as it doesn't make sense. We've literally slept in the same bed on holiday and nothing has happened. She's just my fun party friend who I see 3x a year if that. For context she's getting older and is now 26 so maybe that's a factor but who knows.
She's also the type of girl who has lots of male friends and is often like we're such good pals, so genuinely never saw her like that.
Couple / weird behavior
ANYWAY - what are people's thoughts on this?
I've thought guys and girls can be friends as long as they're not attracted to each other and this was the last example in my own life that I had so a little disappointed in a way lol

"Out of bounds" friend
- Last night I meet Jane at a bar. I get tons of pre-selection as I got talking to like 5 girls while in the queue and ended up que jumping with them
- She then asks me how I am and her 3rd reply is literally "I'm with a friend who's just your type but she's out of bounds"
- I literally think she's joking as I've slept with her cousin but somehow her cousin's friend is magically "out of bounds"???
- Not only that but her same cousin slept with my friend at new years and we were all mature and cool about it lol
Anyway I question it before laughing and saying whatever

Couple / weird behavior
- I'm driving her and her friend home and she starts feeding me and says "she can't lie but she has a soft spot for me"
- There was also a situation where she nearly slept with my friends but apparently she didn't to "respect" me
- The next day she also says we should meet up without drinks "to avoid a hangover" We've had sober catch ups before but now I'm reading into it
