Why I get this from my almost ALL ex-girlfriends ? Like I am gay and should hang out with them so they can talk to me about other guys they fuck now, or be their whatsapp chatbuddy or something ? Is this some kind of back-pocket mentality ? If somebody can explain, I just don't get it.

I don’t think it is usually some machiavellian strategy to retain you as a back up. More that women can be very sentimental and get attached and don’t like clean breaks, perhaps they evolved that way to retain back up mates.

It’s not necessarily a bad thing if you can get over her with her still in your life, an attractive woman in your social circle is a gateway to other attractive women.

I have a lot of chick friends now adays they are always bugging me about random stuff.

I’ve kept one ex gf as a friend and it’s only been because I ran into her way later after the breakup.

You can expect some snarky comments here and there and if she has hot friends to get invited out every once in awhile. It’s better to have straight up chick friends.

In my case it's almost always so they can take another shot at some point. It's hard these days for women to find guys with the kind of frame control that it takes to have a good relationship - most guys either shoot themselves in the foot on the way in or do it on the way out.

I've also noticed that women who feel like you were too dominant and they couldn't handle you will hang around, maybe partly out of ego and partly out of the sense that if their backup plan of sprucing up some beta doesn't work they might be able to come in and negotiate at a lower price.

Also, there is the fact that when you treat her a certain way and make her feel a certain way that she can't get anywhere else .. well, where else is she going to get it?
