I'm new to this myself but will try and help out;

Its a good article and the important thing to take away is keep things simple, like you i used to think you needed magical words to ask a girl out but you really don't just keep it simple and ask her, if she's interested she'll say yes. I normally just say:
if your free sometime this weekend we can get a drink/coffee/ice cream (pick the one you prefer at the time)
Here is an example of how i asked a girl out last week. Like you I met her in a club the next day we got chatting on facebook and we got talking about my love for ice cream eventually i framed her as someone who wanted to try and steal it which she brought into saying she would ask for some, I then asked her out like this:
If your free sometime this weekend we could meet and I'll give you some
in less then 1 minute she replied yes. Btw i didn't plan the whole ice cream thing I just saw an opportunity and took it.
Just out of interest is this the nurse you asked about a couple of days ago? Because you said she seemed interested and said she was free the next week, if that's the case read the article and ask her out asap.
