Of all the approaches, 3 gave me contact information, 1 was a confirmed fake number, 1 probably won't text back, but the last one seems promising It's odd, because of all the approaches, the most promising one was the most brief, and I least expected getting anything out of my interaction with her... On the other hand my most promising, the girl who was into rock music and really involved in the conversation was the fake number... Odd.

Since I didn't have my hopes up for the girl that texted back at the time, I don't remember the conversation very well... Only fragments

Me: *pre-open with nudge to the side* "Hey um... Do you think it'd be okay if a stranger gave another stranger a sincere compliment?"
Her: "Um... Sure!"
Me: "Well alright then. Give me a compliment "
Her: "Hahaha um, I really like (some compliment)"
Me: "Thank you! I really like your nose piercing. It stands out. I'm AP, what's your name?"
Her: "Jada"
Me: "Nice to meet you!"

Same opener as before. My god that one is keeper. She was about to board a ride and so the conversation was quick and didn't contain much more than playful banter.

Me: "Anyway, I wanted to see if you wanted to grab some coffee sometime... If you're open-minded like that anyway."
Her: "Um... Sure! Do you have a phone?"
Me: "Yes." *Pull out phone and have her enter her number into the keypad* "Do you have a cute nickname?"
Her: "Just Jada haha!"

I don't remember anything else. Based on how I've been doing things lately though, I'd assume I asked her what she'd be doing this week and she didn't know for sure at the moment... Either that, or it simply ended with her having to leave on the ride, but I doubt I would offer a date without checking the schedule.

Here is what the text message conversation looks like now.

Me: "Hey jada, it's AP what's up?"
Her: "Heey and nothing much hbu?"
Me: "I'm just at walmart with the long haired guy I was with... He got one direction stuck in my head XP"
Her: "Ohh he's ur friend? And haha"
Me: "Baby you light up my world like nobody else... Lmao hate that song so much and now I can't stop singing it... And yes, I went to the fair with him"
Her: "Ohh eww me to. And oh ok."
Me: "What music do you listen to then? "
Her: "Pop and R and B hbu"
Me: "Well I sing so I kinda listen to a bit of everything... But I'm a weirdo and old rock and roll happens to be my one guilty pleasure lol " (In hindsight I should have said one of many guilty pleasures)
Me: "Hey jada, I've gotta go soon, but I'll be free tuesday and friday night if you can hang out wednesday I'd only be able to during the day and you'd probably have to pick me up lol"
Her: "Alrihht"

So yeah, hopefully I can get this to go somewhere. Once again, I'll keep you guys posted

Her: "Heey nothing just at my cousins house hbu?"
Me: "My plans got cancelled today lmao i'm all dressed up with nowhere to go.. It was my last day at work too"
Her: "Aww damn that sucks. And oh where did u work ?"
Me: "I worked at skyzone but I took a year's leave of absence because I leave on sunday for college"
Me: "By the way, did you find out if you were free at all this week?"
Her: "Ohh Whoaa your in college ? I'm only 16 lol."
Me: "No, I'm going into college lmao. I'm 18"
Her: "Ohh lol ok . I was gunna say that's kinda to old ."
Me: "Lmao it's hard to tell the age of asians huh? It's alright. If you were any younger, I wouldn't still be offering the date"
Her: "Haha yeahh . And yeah I know , you look older"
Me: "People never guess my age right -.- lol the youngest someone guessed was 15 and the oldest was 29. What city do you live in?"
Her: "lol same . And St. Paul"
Me: "I'm trying to figure out what we can do... I'd show you around my town, but oakdale's kinda boring.. Lol I have to go to woodbury and maplewood whenever I wanna do something."
Me: "I'm thinking we should grab something somewhere and then go exploring either in your town or some other place that neither of us live you down?"
Her: "What do u mean where neither of us live lol"
Me: "I mean as in maplewood or a park in woodbury.. My favorite place to explore is minneapolis, but it's kinda far and i'm kinda lazy lol... Just some place where we can walk with a decent view."
Her: "Ohh alright , and yeah Minneapolis is far , and it's big lol."
Me: "Oh yes.. But the fact that it's big makes it so you never run out of things to do okay, so then our choices are your town, maplewood, or a park in woodbury... which would you like?"
Her: "Yeah we gotta go somewhere public cause I don't know u like that"
Me: "well of course lol I think a walk in the park would be a good place... There's places for smoothies and ice cream in woodbury too if we ever feel like sitting down"
Her: "Yeah that would be fine"
Me: "Alright I'll be free tomorrow night, wednesday during the day if you can pick me up, and friday night... When do you wanna meet up?"

I'm trying to play it safe now because I need some date experience to go forward... But I don't know... am I being too safe?

I think you talk too much lol, a better way to say this is that you are not really giving her chances to invest. To me it seems like you are chasing too much. That aside your number one objective it to get the date for experience you have to make her like you and want to invest in you. Lol I don't have a car either and girls usually have to pick me up or drop me off at home, from personal experience she has to like you enough to want to invest that much into you. I would say you are in a delicate situation; she might flake. The fact that you are pretty much chasing her and then at the end throwing in this big investment of her having to pick you up might discourage her that's just from my experience though and depends on how well the initial reaction/attraction was.

Yeah... I can feel myself being too chasey with this one if that's a word haha... But on the upside, I no longer have to ask of that large amount of investment because now I'll have the car.. I'll outline where it's at after I post this

Her: "Hi, who is this?"
Me: "It's AP! What's up?"
Her: "Oh hey! Um... Not much, how about you?"
Me: "I just got back from the grocery store and I'm about to cook dinner... Hey, so I found out my martial arts class was cancelled today."
Her: "Oh no, I'm sorry!"
Me: "Yeah, I was looking forward to it, but it does mean I'm free for the night... Are you free to hang out tonight?"
Her: "Um... No, sorry... I'm actually just about to leave for my cousin's birthday party... I'm sorry, I wish I could."
Me: "Oh no worries. Bro's before hoes right? Hahaha"
Her: "Well... Haha yeah... and it's kind of a big deal so..."
Me: "Yeah it's fine... Um let's see... Tomorrow's a definite no go.... Friday. Are you free Friday?"
Her: "Yeah I think so!"
Me: "Awesome I'll pick you up around six, six thirty?"
Her: "Definitely, just text me!"
Me: "I will. Make sure you text me your number!"

Of course there's still a chance for a flake, this doesn't count until the date begins

That's the most important thing, failures teach us a lot more than success do in my opinion. Just keep at it.
