Just had my first day of school, and I realized coming back that I have a reputation that I need to badly repair.

I know a lot of the people in my classes already, and it seems that I've messed up friendships with most of them. Is there any way I can repair those broken bridges?

Also, anyone have any tips on becoming "popular" at school? Thought it'd be easy coming back but I realize I still have a lot of things to do if I want to climb to the top.

Hey Jake,

Don't worry too much about the friendships you messed up, and instead focus on building new ones. Later on you can rekindle those friendships after you have grown socially and personally.

Chase actually wrote an article about not looking to be well liked, but if you really want to be at school, the most important thing is to make as many friends as possible. Specifically, sit in the middle of class where you can talk to a lot of people and where people can see you, join a lot of clubs, go to events, etc. The gist is to make your presence know, and if you have been reading the articles on this site for a while, you'll be well off.

Something to think about: Do you know why you want to be popular? I've actually thought my own desire over in my head; is it for security or emotional validation? I've actually concluded that I just want to see if I can do it, even if it's a bit late for high school.

Heya Jake,

I've also been having to fix my reputation since school started, but I've come across a few common phenomena.

Handling your fundamentals really does improve your perceived social status! People that wouldn't even have given me the light of day before are now responding warmly to me, and girls that would have been totally out of my league before are now starting to give chase :D

That's the concrete stuff I've got so far, but feel free to bounce ideas with me sometime! Multiple brains are better than one, so maybe we can figure out something better! :)

Until next time,

-Alex
