For as long as I remember, I've always stood with my back straight and chin held high.

I suppose this comes from naturally high self esteem and a big ego.

However, seeing pics of mine where I wasn't aware I was being photographed, I noticed that my posture, while straight (not slouching) wasn't always sexy like you'd expect a male model's posture.

At first, it was clear that straight posture wasn't going to solve the even bigger issue I had back then: my huge gut.

After shedding over 50 pounds, my posture and other body fundamentals drastically improved (even facial expressions, for instance, get heavily distored with fat in the face)

But after seeing pics of mine again, I noticed my posture still wasn't sexy.

There was this weird thing where my ass was sticking out as my lower back arched more than it should.

Some Google searches later showed me it was anterior pelvic tilt.

There are three types:

1. Anterior pelvic tilt.
2.Posterior pelvic tilt.
3. Lateral pelvic tilt.

Each one will undermine your posture, at times quite severely.

I searched on YouTube for videos teaching exercises to fix it. Selected the one with the most raving comments and 5 weeks later, there was a sharp improvement in my posture.

If you've got any sort of pelvic tilt, take the time to fix it. The difference in posture is enormous. It lets you improve one of the most important body fundamentals.

This is a super underrated tip. It is probably better that people diagnose their specific issue like you describe, but here is also a general set of exercises that does wonders for posture.

They are like yoga, but the movements are fluid and continuous. Each are performed for 21 reps. The first one is for balance.

These are animated gifs that should show movement
