Hey gents!
This approach was pretty short, but a ton happened with it (and I was in a really good head-space) so I figured I'd post it incase anyone sees things to tweak (or reinforce, always a good thing ^.^). She said no, which gives me the chance to share how I respond (which I feel could be a million times better). Note: I tried to use Drexel's opener, botched it a little, but it was definitely fun!
I saw this really cute Asian walking on the sidewalk as I was parking to drop off a delivery (Postmates). I took care of the work stuff as fast as I could and caught up to her. During the interaction, I was relatively animated, and tried to keep a closed mouth grin, but occasionally fully smiled (it was an entertaining, lighthearted interaction). I don't recall much about my eye contact, so I don't think a strong, sexy gaze was present. Here we go!
Any and all tips are fully welcome, especially on those end parts, which I use a lot.
Thanks guys!
Josh

- Me: Excuse me! (she was too entranced in her phone) *gets right to her side* "Hey (pause) I had a question for you, it's kind of random but...how are you with taking compliments from strangers? (<-botched it lol)
Her: ummm...
Me: Are you good with it? (redeemed)
Her: Uhh, yeah I guess haha
Me: Cool, I am too. You go first, and then I'll say mine...(I held a big grin, like I was about to burst out laughing {which I was}, which eventually opened into a smile)
Her: (after like 10 seconds of her autopilot dive bombing into the ground) Uhhh haha, you're really friendly? Haha
Me: Thanks, and I really like your style! What's your name?
Her: Tiffany, what's yours? (she keeps looking at her phone)
Me: I'm Josh, I thought you were really cute and I wanted to come say hi. Are you a student at [blank]?
Tiffany: Uhh, yeah (a little confused)
Me: Hey, are you meeting someone?
Tiffany: Uhhh (looks at her phone and shows me a mass of texts), no, but i have a ton going on.
Me: Ah, well which college are you in?
Tiffany: [College] (still confused)
Me: Cool, what year are you?
Tiffany: Third year
Me: Ooh...
Tiffany: (before I could say more) Are you at [blank]?
Me: Not anymore, I'd be a fourth year, but life took a different path. I was in [college] so I'd pass through [her college] all the time
Tiffany: Ohhh okay! (suddenly not confused, but keeps looking at her phone)
(asked about her living on campus or not blah blah blah)
--------
Here's where a lot of what I normally do came out, so this is stuff that I use occasionally, so any advice is definitely welcome
--------
Me: Yeah, hey you seem really busy, you can go if you have to
Tiffany: (Doesn't really answer, but stays)
Me: Since you're so busy right now, how about we hang out some time?
Tiffany: Uhhh.....ehhh...(antsy in a college Asian girl way)
Me: Don't worry, you're not on the hot seat haha (definitely feel like this is something that should be changed). I thought you were cute and figured I'd see about getting to know you better.
Tiffany: Ehhhh...yeah....I have to say no haha (didn't give a reason, but then again I just flopped out with the above...)
Me: No worries, it was nice meeting you! Tiffany, right? (shakes her hand again)
Tiffany: Yeah! Jjjoshhhhhh...?
Me: Yeah, good memory *smiles and walks off to my car*
