A musician friend of mine (lead singer) introduced me to a woman who is also a lead singer about two months ago at a night club where bands play. She and I talked for 5 minutes before we were both called to the stage to play a song together with two other friends of mine. Afterwards, she left the club and went home before I had a chance to talk with her.
Several weeks later, my other band member tells me this same woman is going to fill in for half the night with our band two weeks later. I was like "cool" and didn't make a big deal about since I had two other prospects at the time. Because I'm in a band with four other people plus their girlfriends, or wives, and other close friends, I'm surrounded by a large social circle.
Because this female lead vocalist was filling in for just one night, I wanted to wait until after this event passed before considering asking her out. Well, before that could happen, she pulled me aside after a band practice and asked me if I would be interested in joining her new band. I said yes because I was already putting the word out that I was looking for another side-project. By this time, the other two girl prospects had fallen through--I didn't move fast enough.
Now, this same social circle is putting a little pressure on me since that show to hook up with her. But I'm not sure I'm willing to risk a good money-making opportunity in music for a short-term or long-term fling. My band members have joked and teased me about it but their opinions vary wildly on how to handle it. Hell, I've even laughed about it myself. One says don't risk it and it's not worth the drama. Another says screw the drama, there's always drama in bands---just screw her now and get it over with. Now, I don't know whether I should even say anything to her about it. Any insights?
