Here in the last 5-10 years I've noticed that young people (18-25) are more effusive in their greetings. I see teachers hugging students. The Bro-hug is becoming more prominent in male greetings. For my 40 year old demographic, this is a change from out training in the 90's of a more "hands off" socializing.

So I think the way to get comfortable is to use Kino more in safe settings like family and friends. Especially around the holidays. Hug Grandma and give her a kiss on the cheek. Perfect the Bro hug with the cousins and the side hug. Our parents and grandparents generation will appreciate more touch as a greeting. If you are meeting French or Italian relatives, work on the cheek kiss.

Now don't be the creepy uncle demanding a hug and a kiss from the younger female cousins...That is totally uncalibrated. But hold your mom's hand or elbow. Put your hand on your Dad's shoulder. High five your young nephews and nieces.

Night before Thanksgiving when everyone is in town at the bar catching up, work in the bro hugs, with the guys and with the girls who are one-of-the-guys. You are setting a precedent to all women who see you that you demonstrate a high level of kino who are close to you.

The whole idea is to make a level of social touch a part of your repertoire that feels comfortable, in a safe environment. Chances are it will pay off dividends in your family relationships as well as your physical ones.
