So I am not too exhausted from my job and was looking to add a cool part time gig to it as well.

Ever since I was in college, I wanted to work at a bar that attracts the hot girls and the fun party crowd. I specified this because I do not want to work at a dive bar in the neighborhood or some sketchy biker gang bar. My issue in college was that most of the bars in my college town strongly preferred to hire bartenders who were in fraternities so it was hard for anyone not in Greek Life to get a job there.

Now I imagine that with all of the positives that come from working at a bar that attracts hot girls and cool guys, the competition for the job must be fierce. Sometimes I wonder if it is as fierce as attempting to get into Harvard, I really do.

As someone with no bartending experience who is in his late 20s, how do I land the job? I will only be able to work on weekends and from the reading I've been doing they will start me off as a barback. Any suggestions?

A job at a nightclub will be just as good.

I got a job in security at a dance club when my room mate (who we called Swamp Thing) got a job there first. I left that job to work at the University Student Union.

I expected more action, but it was pretty tame.

I had a girlfriend at the time and working the door I got to "Assess all the Talent". I did hear stories from the "Good old Days" about nailing the strippers who came through and did a show.

Had I known a little more about Seduction in those days, I probably could have used my position to my advantage to meet women.

If you are bigger than average in stature, and can sense a shift in energy of people around you, you might be well suited to that role in a club as well. Security, AKA bouncers, role is to head off trouble and fights before they start, and enforce respect for the rest of the staff.
