Not a question, just a funny story from this week...
I was out with some friends and some friends I theirs I hadn't met before. During the night, I was chatting with the people I didn't know, no intention of picking anyone up, talking to guys and girls equally...
After about 3 minutes chatting to a friend of a friend, the girl stops and says "Hey, so you seem like a great guy but I don't want to waste mine or yours time, I'm not interested in going out".
I wasn't even trying to pick up this girl... she was MAYBE a "7", I was just being social with the whole group, especially since I hadn't met a few people before, that's what I do.
I thought it was just the strangest thing for her to say to someone... I literally didn't even have a come-back, my head was just like "WTF?"
It's weird, and it's something I've noticed a lot here in the States, back home I find guys and girls socialize very well. Even if someone is attracted to someone else, in a social group which everyone is already rooted as friends, it's pretty normal to socialize with guys and girls and the whole thing not be a big group pickup thing.
Though I've gotten this a lot in the States.... never as blunt as this girl... but maybe I'm talking to a friend of a friend, nice personality but I'm not attracted, I'm naturally just chatty in these situations, but the girls always assume I am interested due to me talking and bantering with them and it gets awkward having to fend off their advances later.
Same goes for hotter girls in same situation, without even trying to pick them up I'll get this weird vibe from them, moreso if they are not into a pickup from me but the underlying assumption is... if I am talking to them, I must be hitting on them... but I had no intention...
It's the weirdest social dynamic I've ever found and I've been in many countries and have friends in many more but only in the States is this a "thing".... so odd.
Though one thing is... It sort of makes me want to completely dump any sort of indirect game. If the mere act of speaking to a girl makes her think you are hitting on her.. then let her think it! Don't waste time asking for directions or making funny jokes... find out from the outset if she's interested and no time wasted
