I've reached a weird point where girls will usually honestly tell me their situation, what I'm curious about is when girls say yes they are single but it is complicated. From here should I inquire or just proceed and grab the number etc. Let me know what you guys think.

I don't think you should inquire further, at least at the start. This is her way of saying she likes you but does not want to pursue a traditional boyfriend/girlfriend relationship with you due to her relationship status. Usually means she wants to see you on the side for some casual sexy fun. If you are ok with that then go for it.

I personally distaste the word slut , the tone of this made me feel as if you were angry or impatient , but this is off topic
I belive that he is inquiring about her not the other way around
so I think that this might be a sign of interest.
maybe a more Boyfriend type interest.
and some might have a bf , but aren't socially adept enough to turn you down (inexperience)
but if she just mentions a boyfriend right off the bat,
In my experience, she's politely turning you down.

(sigh) I'm not man. I'm aware. If she has a b.f and she's not interested she will say IHABF to his face. Women are exceptionally socially aware, more so than men. Inexperienced women won't say "Its complicated", they will make lame excuses as to why they can't date men because that's how they've been taught by other women. Plus, their body language alone will betray inexperience, tone of voice, eye contact (lack of). Experienced girls are very adept at being vague and misleading with their words and behaviors. Kind of like players. "It's complicated" is a perfect excuse for an experienced women. It's keeps guys in the dark as to her true motives and gets to save face in social situations. Not to mention it's a polite rejection on her part also.
Several posters on these forums agree that you shouldn't even ask for her status. Unless she's in another guy's arms or wearing a ring you should assume she's single. If you hit on her and she flirts back, who cares if she's taken? Clearly she's not happy, or she's shopping around, so go for it. Her status is irrelevant. Just flirt with her, see where it goes, and if she gives you some bullshit about how complicated her dating life is, convince her that YOU can simplify it.
