So there's this chick I think I got a great connection with at work. Problem is it's a part-time job and we don't work together indefinitely (at least the next week, probably more). Not really sure how to move forward without looking desperate. All of the department phone numbers are posted...would it be a big deal to steal her number off this chart and send her a text?

I think things are good to go but not sure how to move forward without literally chasing her down. Or I could do nothing and hope that everything I've put in leads her to chase me down.

Some advice would be helpful here.

Recommend not 'stealing contact'.

Sets a girl off she'll be wondering how you got a hold of it, won't come off as natural, if she doesn't know you that well this will normally set up a creeper vibe or a vibe that is unatural and she'll more likely then not, not be receptive. Also presents yourself as not completely comfortable with her as you had to get her number by other means.

I would just roll up your sleeves and ask if she's interested in a coffee sometime. Just go more direct as you don't see her often, there's also a nice article by
Ross: Hired Gun Game

With a girl chasing you? Very rare, I've only had that happen say... 3/4 times/year and that was more social game where you have lots of contact with them? Assume you'll have to do the leg work for the approach/bait.

I'd say next time you see her go more direct and ask if she has any plans after work (If you both clock out at the same time) or make plans later.

Just my personal opinion. I've also had this done TO me where a girl gets ahold of my number from a mutual friend and even I get irritated by this as I don't know them very well. I don't care how fantastic you are, if you want my number ask me and me only.

Maybe others have had success with the 'steal'? Personally when I go direct it's more positive.

Good luck,

Thanks Glitch.

After thinking about it, you're definitely right.

I tried to set something up last time but it was super casual and really rushed so it didn't work out. I'll have to be more direct next time.

My main concern right now is the whole "attraction has an expiration date" thing...I probably won't see her again for a week or two (or more) unless I physically go out of my way to set something up. But I don't want to look desperate either.

I will probably just sit on this for now, come back to it when opportunity arises.

Thanks for the help,

Ray

I don't know about the attraction expiration date; in my experience it's more of 'the more you see her without acting, the faster the expiration is'. As you are not in contact with each other for a large amount of time, if you laid down the foundations the rate expiration is slower but it's good that you're keeping it in mind.

Attraction does have an expiration date but how fast it expires depends on the factors such as a girls confidence, experience etc. I've observed expirations dates that varied from a few minutes to years. Don't rely on it going on for years! :D Mainly a social circle one, for a few cases when I didn't know how to play the game. I was pretty dense in my younger days. I wouldn't notice a girl liked me until she hit me over the head with a brick and yelled it. ;)

That'll send a girl into auto-reject or at least resentment. I moved to seeing others, thinking I lost my chance with all the missed opportunities. I was so clueless when it came to noticing these things... Only now when I look back at it and with my best friend... where she points out all details... God I was so dumb! :D

Don't be like me and just go do it! You'll feel better when it's done, the worse case is that she'll kindly decline. Nothing wrong with that, everyone's been there.
