I meet this HB 8.5 in the mall, direct. Was working in a clothing store. I had a bunch of stuff and their credit card machine goes down. After some messing around I go down to an ATM and get money and come back and pay. Get date for drink/food and number close.

About 2 hrs later:

Me 227: Thank you for the excellent service today. Haha ;) -NJ
Her 305: You're very welcome! Sorry again about the card thing. We got it fixed!
Me 437: Yeah I think you were just stalling to work your mall seduction skills! :)
Her 504: Haha nooo! I have none of those
Me 518: Ha! So- what's your schedule look like the next week or so, missy?
Her 602: I'm not sure yet. I usually don't get my next weeks schedule until Friday

What would you guys do? Just respond something short like "ok that sounds good, I'll get back with you" and then get a hold of her in a few days? Or do I need to burn it down now and try to just get her out tomorrow? I don't want to come off as desperate though.

Hey NJ,

I don't think you have anything to worry about here, so there's no need to burn it to the ground yet. Part time work schedules can change each week, so her excuse seems legit. This is further supported by her enthusiastic responses to your texts.

I try to avoid even a hint of chasing, so I'd simply respond with, "That's cool. Just hit me up when you get your schedule figured out :) ". This leaves the door wide open for her to contact you again if and when she's interested in seeing you. I think she will, just be patient.

Yeah here's how I responded & some more texts:

Me 842: Cool cool- maybe early next week sometime. We'll figure it out :)
Her 920: Yeah definitely. Lol do you shop at the Buckle often
Me 946: Nah. Maybe couple times before. Been awhile.
Her 956: You always hit on random girls?
Me 1013: Better quest- you always pick up boys that come in your store? Lol
Her 1017: Haha no I don't! First one

Gonna leave it at that for now.

Always second guessing myself! Haha

you miss 100% of the shots you don't take

You could always go with something like "interesting ;)". I used to leave these until the day/next day they knew their plans but it always seemed like I was being cold. This is low effort, intrigues her a little, shows her you understand, still have some interest (without telling her you are definitely going to contact her) and get a warmer response on Fri/Sat when you hit her up. Would be interesting to see what you guys think.

If she will contact you. This will help me in my problem....I thought its the guy who asks first. Just like NarrowJ did in her texts, he asked her about the schedule. Its a bit confusing though, because personally I think women are a bit too shy to ask, apart from the fact that hey think its not socially acceptable...:)

Yeah, this is why I never leave it up to a woman to contact me asking for a date. I mean, yes I have done it before and it has worked- but usually it doesn't lol.

The thing is, he already asked her first, so HE already made the first move. He asked her out first and she pretty much agreed, but wasn't sure about her schedule. You can't expect her to explicitly ask you out, but she will eventually contact you with "Hey" or "What's up?" Then that's your cue to set up the date.

Guys get into trouble when they can't nail down a definitive date right away and the uncertainty causes them to chase, when all that was required was a little patience.

In this case, she seemed enthusiastic about the date, so waiting for her to contact you again, or sending out a text a few days later would work either way.
