So I've been trying online dating since November: pof, okcupid, even tinder. It's been incredibly easy to wrack up numbers. Getting dates, however, not so much.
So far my stats are: 33 numbers, 6 dates with 5 girls, 1 lay.
The biggest thing I've learned: its really easy to lose a girl's interest and sometimes really hard to get girls out. I've had girls flake multiple times on me even a hour before the date.
As far as my profile, I've had some luck with my own template. My pof profile is very witty and smug with good pics. My okcupid profile is more romantic sounding in content but I have a shirtless pic (which does work). As far as messages, Chase's template hasn't worked for me at all. Instead, I've found a pretty good template using keywords and pieces from girls' profiles. Those could always use work though. Conversations are mostly good and if the girl engages back and forth, its almost a guarantee I'll get her number. But short responses and infrequent messaging are death knells.
My biggest issue though is how to get genuinely hot girls to not just message back but engage. I consider myself an attractive guy and my profile and messages are more thought out than most. I can get cute and average girls to talk, but any hot girl with a pouty look and anything resembling a knockout body will never engage. If I do, she does so dismissively just for fun.
As for my biggest pet peeves with girls' profiles: putting zero info and saying to just ask, saying some bullshit about how she always messages guys back especially if they say more than hi, girls favoriting or liking you but not messaging back, girls putting "just friends" as their goal on the site (why those sites allow that is beyond me, it really lets girls find orbitors) and girls saying that they're no one's one night stand and if you're looking to hook up move on. Hell, I've even gotten some numbers of girls who said or implied they were looking to date but just wanted a texting buddy.
