Quite a lot of articles on the GC seem to state that wherever possible, apologising (especially to women should be avoided), as it implies you should be ashamed of something (not a good frame to display).
But what about when you're wrong/have made a genuine mistake which has caused inconvenience/difficulty to others? Lately, I've been under a lot of stress, and my difficulties in dealing with the problems has been causing me some anxiety. As a result, I've been making a lot of little mistakes - and recently, I made one which caused a co-worker to have to pick up a lot of slack and work a set of inconvenient hours - he came at me pretty pissed off, and while I pointed out he wasn't obligated to do so, and stated I'd do my best to stop this from happening next time, I do feel a little guilty.
