How do you guys handle workplace conflict and block it out? I work as a programmer and basically I originally started out fine until having a disagreement with this senior engineer who is extremely high ego and holds grudges. He ended up being quite close to mymanager, and now I’ve been placed in a focus program by my manager and she has targeted me specifically as someone to be fired and documenting me ceaselessly. And the manager has put me with this senior engineer as a “mentor” but all he is doing is annoying me and being aggressive and sleazy as he was also a manager. Both of them hold frame extremely strong and recently teamed up on me in a meeting once again.
I already wanted to quit to pursue opportunities elsewhere before this, but there is a hefty severance payout (40k) if I am fired through their “performance plan” which is their way of kicking out engineers for performance (or political reasons).
I hate giving up the frame but I feel like I am wasting time combating their documentation and their points against me and trying to "win" frame battles.
So anyway my only goal is to stay until they eventually have enough datapoints to fire me for performance because I get severance for this. As long as I show up to work I’m ok I think, but I’m a little paranoid that these two individuals on my team are trying to sabotage me and find reasons to fire me without severance.
I want to just cut out all the noise and report my status without issue but they keep being so pathetically persistent in meetings on me when I already expressed it (in a way that cannot be used against me) that I don’t care how they evaluate me and I will wish them the best either way (aka can you just let me collect my severance?)
