Trying to get back into social circle after a 1 1/2 year absence, but I am stumbling into old habits. I had a party at my parents house yesterday to merge two different groups of friends together. There was 8 people in total (4 girls, 4 guys), the most I’ve ever hosted.

The first hour and a half, I hardly talked to anyone b/c I was busy preparing/cooking. Everything went smoothly except I went back to my pushover tendencies to keep everyone happy. Few mistakes I made:

-Personally plating people’s food if they came in late
-Refilling the flavored water pitcher when it got low
-Offering to get the “quite people” things when they were pushed out of the convo

I think I did something wrong b/c one of my friends said this:

“That’s what I should look for in a man now - one that cooks AND serves. I was talking to your parents in the other room, they want an Asian daughter-in-law."

Does anyone have tips for hosting a party?

P.S. I do not plan on sleeping with any of the girls. They provide a different type of value to my life.
