How to stand without support?

I feel that I tend to posture a lot and look very forced when I stand talking to people and have nothing to lean on. Hands on hips is too strong and ridiculous looking, crossed arms is a no-no, and hands behind head looks like I'm not taking them seriously.

Your thoughts?

Hands by sides seem to be fine.

I don't know if anyone else does it, but sometimes i tuck my thumbs in my pockets while stationary.

Feet shoulder width apart give you much better presence. Try that when you're standing still.
