First off I want to ask Franco not to move this to "Other", since it's not a thread about comparing cars. It's about what your car says about you, how it affects you image, how it affects the way you're perceived and your success with women.

Also what kind of car do you drive? And what do you thing it says about you?

There is really lots and lots of "What does your car say about you" articles. For example most say driving a ferrari says you're highly educated, sophisticated, classy. But on every forum people say it brings lots of negative attention and you're sees as a douche that is stuck up, arrogant, and people are turned off by you.

There are girls who say the wouldn't date someone driving a Ferrari others want such a guy. But there are numerous videos on Youtube about guys picking up girls. Though it's funny the girl rejects the guy, then the guy says "this is my ferrari" and the girls says "okay lets go". The guys think it worked, while the girl just wants to ride in a ferrari and then leave.

Here are some general thoughts that I've seen a lot :

Ferarri/Lamborghini - rich douche

Porche - less-rich douche

Maserati - successful but not that flashy and elgant - the car though made by ferrari is more exclusive

Aston Martin - successful but elegant, not too extroverted, humbler, a bit more mature and sophisticated

Tuned Japanese car - kid that loves Fast and Furious, immature

a mini van - you have a wife and kids

Prius - you're a soccer dad

Muscle car - manly, rugged, aggressive

SUV - you value comfort and practicality

Mercedes, BMW, Audi - I've heard that in the US those are "cool" cars but here in Europe even the expensive ones are a dime a dozen. And no one pays attention to them. But you see a Courvette or Camaro and it's like "whoaa" cause you don't see US cars in Europe much.

And most normal cars don't make much difference or get noticed by people. The only two things are it tells if you make 20 000$ per year of 35 000$ or 50 000$. And if it's clean and taker care of or dirty.

Also when ever women are asked on the topic they always say the same thing: I only care it it's clean inside and taken care. I don't like dirty and smelly cars.
I'm also talking considering you're fundamentals are great and you're an attractive guy. How much of an effect does your can have on your image in peoples eyes.

For example a sexy, confident guy pulls up in a beat 1998 Toyota vs the exact same looking guy pull up in Ferrari 458 Italia or the exact same guy pulls up in a classy Aston Martin.
Do you think people and women would perceive the 3 guys the same way?

I think the effects that it may have on women are:
- good looking with cheap or normal car - more attainable and more of a lover cause you don't have much money
- good looking with expensive car - "I better get him as a boyfriend, so I'll take it slow" or to low on attainability and girls go in auto-rejection.

I think there will be girls who will be more attracted to you because of a flashy car, but most of the normal girls will go into auto-rejection if you drive a fancy sports car.

What are your thoughts?

if you have good game it doesn't really matter if you have a car, a rusted beater, or a Lambo. I definitely wouldn't waste time working towards getting any sort of "nice" car in order to raise my status and get laid.... although if I had that much disposable income I definitely wouldn't hold back!

Another thing, and I just skimmed this so I don't know what the exact premise is other than the specific cars mentioned, is that having a nice car can slot you easy into the provider box and thus actually harming your ability to get laid... something to consider.

The general point is this, yeah. But I was wondering how a specific brand of car affects your image. Imagine you're a owner of a big company, someone famous, etc. How will a different brand affect your overall image.

Ahh I gotcha.

I think it would be funny to be a CEO of a multi-billion dollar company and ride around in '99 Honda civic to the upscale clubs that CEO's hang out at and steal everyone's girls (with good game). And then watch the faces of all the rich chodes thinking their cool with their Lambo's and Ferrari's start crying when you steal their girls and take them home in a '99 Honda Civic. ;)

I just own a nice but "practical" car. Sure, some girls are interested in you owning a cool car, but do you want to keep a girl like that around?

Different cars mean different things to people. Taking my European influence, there are cars there which give someone some status but in the US are considered pretty lame.
Also in Europe American muscle cars are for the ultimate douches while in the States are seen as pretty cool.
A large Pickup Truck in the States is seen a big status in some parts but in Europe, only people like Itinerants would really ever drive such a thing.

If you're looking at cars though as a tool for pickup then you're going dow the route of "money and looks matter most" etc, etc... which is not really the point on a site like this.

In terms of cars. I used to race cars through my teens and early 20's. Still do occasionally as a hobby now. So I LOVE fast cars but fast road cars do nothing for me. For example, around here, Evo's and STI's are really popular... while the LOOK awesome to me.... I could probably get a pretty good one for well under 100k. To me I don't get the point. They are a production version of at WRX car... which might not be road legal but is the biggest thrill of your life on a closed race circuit. I would rather have one of those to race at weekends while I take a Prius to and from the course than own one of these watered down production cars for the road. But that's just me :)

Great topic. This question has crossed my mind as well. I drive an 04 hyundai elantra that i've had since college. I can easily afford a new car but it doesn't align with my values and is a waste of money to me at this point in time.

Haha, I did this while I was in LA. I drive a '96 Honda Accord with 350k miles on it. Great car! But anyways, while I was away, I ran with some VFX types (those guys have super cushy jobs, btw. Boring, but really well taken care of), and they all had their Audi's, Corvettes and muscle cars, etc. whenever we would go out. So here I am with my dinky little Honda, and I was the only one taking home a girl. You should have seen the looks on their faces! So great!

As a side note, always drive a stick when possible. If a girl rides in my car, I'll occasionally let her do the shifting when there's not too much traffic. You'd be shocked how much that turns them on! Perhaps it's the phallic nature of the shifter...

That's cool when you met those guys and you were the only one with a girl. But the point of the post was not how to pick up girls with a fancy car, rather how a different brand affects your image.

On the stick shift part - that only works in the US. Here 99% of all cars are stick. Every one drives a stick and all the girls drive a stick literally every single person has a driving license and has driven a stick for years. sooo every single person drives a stick even if they have an automatic now - they've driven a stick for years before that. The only non-stick cars are maybe some US imports(which you'll see once in a decade), some really new bmw or mercedes, Porsches with tiptronic and the ones with paddle shifters like Ferrari, Lambo, Maserati, etc.
The point is no one would even pay attention that you drive a stick - it's the only kind of transmission everyone drives. And I can't understand why anyone would drive an automatic . Maybe only in heavy traffic it's better to have an automatic than stay there between half clutch and 1st gear to move slowly. But it's funny when some Americans came to stay with some friends and we were teaching them how drive s stick and they couldn't even get the car moving. They's press the clutch, put it in 1st gear, then release the clutch fast or couldn't figure the "half-clutch with left foot and give it gas with the right leg" especially on some diesel VWs :D

It'd be more interesting for a girl to watch you drive an automatic :D. Or a tiptronic - shifting with the buttons on the wheel or shifting with paddle shifters.
