For some reason I wasn't able to post this under the topic, so here:

Hypnosis and self-hypnosis (tapes) work, and they don't - depending on your understanding of consciousness and subconsciousness, and on how big are your expectations. Hypnosis and auto-hypnosis could be ineffective, but could also be very effective.

This area is amazing and fascinating World of our Minds, unfortunately it is being quite misunderstood even today.

It's a huge topic, so just couple of related points:

Consciousness is, in quick and very simplified summary, your awareness. E.g. when you are aware of things you are doing, when you perceive the street you walk on, when you talk to people, when you are aware of using math and so on. Simply when you are awake and aware. You can be aware of external environment, and you can be aware of self.

Our brain generates synchronized electrical waves through which neurons communicate. These waves oscillates in certain frequencies, between some 15 to 38 per minute while awake, which is relatively fast. These are called Beta Waves.

Subconsciousness is different, respectively there are different ranges:

Alpha Waves are slower than Beta waves. These usually occur when we close eyes and relax, but at the same time we are remaining awake.
Next are Theta waves, slower than Alpha waves. These waves occur in deeper meditation, during dreaming.
Deepest waves are called Delta Waves. This is when we sleep deeply, there are no dreams.

While awake (Beta Waves) our conscious mind is very critical and very logical. Thus when we can't get laid yet we say to ourselves for example "I am a great seducer", the fully awake mind immediately denies it. It perceives it as lie because it compares our experiences to what we are saying or thinking. In simplistic way, we simply can't fool ourselves, we can't fool our conscious mind. Our mind will accept this as untrue statement. In reality we can be fooled by repeating the same lies over and over until they become true (e.g. Goebels was able to manipulate whole Germany by repeating the same lies over and over, but let's don't go there as we could discover that today's polititians are doing exactly the same).

Subconscious is quite different. Once we relax and meditate our brain switches to Alpha and then deeper Theta waves where the logic and critical mind disappears. We entered a world of imagination, world dreams. Now when we say (or hear) "I am a great seducer", our subconscious mind will accept it as a true statement. Which is quite important as far as hypnosis and auto-hypnosis is concerned. The more we hear the statements through repetition the more they are accepted as true.

So, hypnosis and auto-hypnosis work the best at lower frequencies, somewhere around Alpha/Theta waves when we have closed eyes, when we are relaxed and meditate, perhaps when we are at the point when we are falling asleep. At this state our mind is quite open and receptive to suggestions. A lot of scientists discovered great things in this state of mind as thoughts/ideas are simply "flowing through" our minds, perhaps in a form or partial dreams - and they are not being judged or suppressed by critical mind. Had to memorize Mendeleev table of elemens? That is how he finally organized it into logical sequence, in his half sleep.

So yes, hypnosis and auto-hypnosis do work, and they do work great. However, at the same time we have to be aware of reality. For example, if we go to a deeper level of our mind (Alpha/Theta waves) and we start suggesting to ourselves "I am a president of the world" or "I won lottery and have millions", the reality next day will be quite a rude awakening - for reasons that you are simply not president, and you didn't win any lottery. As your critical mind takes over once you wake up, you would actually have to be quite an idiot to really believe those suggestions...

On the other hand, you can quite successfully re-direct your mind to much better outcome. Say you don't have much success with girls, you are very shy and have difficulties talking to them. Now you start practicing relaxation and meditation, and then add auto-hypnosis to it. Your suggestions will - for example - be that you are becoming better and better with girls, every single day. Your suggestions will be that talking to girls is quite easy, and taking them out of dates is just a joy, fun. So, depending on your skills and depth of the suggestions, your daily conscious mind can and will actually start believing that. It may not happen at once, overnight, but if you are persistent and keep repeating the same suggestion multiple times, there is no reason why your daily mind wouldn't eventually accept it as valid statement - especially if you support the suggestions with Real actions (meaning that you really go out, you talk to girls, and take girls for dates).

Another quite important thing to add is, that once you are using hypnosis/autosuggestions, you should learn to develop good/positive feelings through relaxation and meditation first. The reason is very simple - if you feel miserable but claim that you are feeling great, your mind will take your statements as not valid. Even your subconscious mind will laugh at you as it will easily recognize those lies of yours. On the other hand, if you learn to feel good (through meditation) first and your statement is that you feel good, great - and taking girls out feels good as well - now your mind will truly associate good feelings with talking to girls and taking girls out...

So in essence, you kind of have to fool your own mind. First you learn to feel great, and then you associate those good feelings with positive statements - while you are in Alpha/Theta state.

It is like a fucking miracle, it does really work great. Unfortunately, as I mentioned above, it is quite misunderstood by general population, so whenever you mention it many people will laugh at you, and those who believe it will make it seem that there are no limits to it, because they have no clue how it works at first place... Which is a lie, the limits are there, the limits are based on REALITY. Reality is the limit, you just won't break through this this barrier no matter what you believe. But, for sure, nobody will laugh at your success - should you chose to be successful at first place...

Thanks for the post Drck! That was some really helpful insights. Probably around 5 months ago, I started writing down positive affirmation and mindsets on my phone and put a reminder on my phone so I'll read it everyday. At first, my mind was rejecting these mindsets/suggestions simply because it wasn't my reality, but after months of drilling it into my head while doing meditation and going out a lot talking to girl, my mind is no longer rejecting these mindsets/affirmation, and as I start to believe I can seduce girls, I actually act more confident and sexual around them like I was already their lover. This makes me believe that if you truly believe you can do it, your action will usually follow through without hesitation and fear, and even if you end up "failing", it feels good to know that you gave it your best shot without fear.

Yes, that is good. You can also improve the affirmations or self-hypnosis.

What is better than your own voice? There is nothing better. So you write down your new affirmations, make a long list. Repeat the same things over and over in different sentences. Add different things to it, mix it all together. Come back to first one, repeat fifth one, add a new one and so on...

Then you record it with your own voice, make an audio. Try to be relaxed while recording. Get a freeware and mix your audio with some relaxation/meditation sounds (ocean waves, flutes, distant thunder,...) - and you have a nice self-hypnosis audio. There is actually some good background music on the web, if you search you can even find some that go by Alpha or Theta waves, sounds of certain frequencies that will synchronize your brain waves with those frequencies as you listen to them...

Then you simply go to sleep every night, lay down, relax and feel good, and put your audio on - and listen and listen until you fall asleep. Now your brain is listening to your own voice, it trusts it more than any other voices, there is a relaxing music in the background oscillating with Alpha/Theta waves...

Next, your brain will eventually get tired of listening the same stuff over and over. So in couple of months create more audios, with different topics, different mixtures... As your brain is adjusting to new ideas and reality, advance your audios, shuffle things around, make new sentences, new goals, re-enforce the old ones...

What's next? Well, enjoy your new reality, reality that you created, New World that you created with your mind...

Eh, I should get a fucking Nobel price for this!

Hi Ned,

Couple important points:

* Associate affirmations with positive feelings (actual feelings, not just words)
* Use keywords that are important to you (abundance, dominance, leading, ...)
* Avoid all negatives: Don't say "I am not anxious". Say "I am relaxed" instead. The reason is that your subconscious is looking for those keywords. For example, if you say "sky is not cloudy" your mind must imagine clouds first, and then remove them. Thus it is preoccupied with clouds anyway. But if you say "sky is clear and blue", your subconscious only sees blue sky (it doesn't see clouds at all)
* Keep it short, simple (not too much thinking, no convoluted sentences, just simple straight forward messages)
* Use lots of positive keywords, such as Abundance, growing, getting better and better, feels great and so on
* Use present time (NOW or I AM): Don't say "I will be relaxed when talk to girls". Say: "I am relaxed when I talk to girls"
* Affirmations + Practice. Always practice your affirmations, make them real: If you affirmation is "Talking to girl is very easy", well - DO IT. Maybe not the very next day, but within couple of days once your mind gets used to that idea.
* Reinforce your statements, justify them with simple logic, connect them with reality. Use words such BECAUSE or AND
* Always push yourself one-two steps further than your current state is. If it is easy to talk to one girl, multiply it: Now you want to talk to 14 girls. Then 58. Stress your mind even more: Now you want to talk to exactly 783 girls in 1 year. Yes, it is unusual number and therefore your mind will remember it quite clearly. Don't be cheap, it is much better to state huge numbers (abundance mentality) than conservative numbers. Maybe you won't talk to exactly 783 girls, you just end up talking 125. Which is not bad in comparison to today's 0. :) Overshoot but within limits of reality (it is real and achievable to talk to 783 girls in 1 year (2-3 girls per day), but probably not to 27,695

Anyway, there are couple of ways how to construct good affirmations. For example, say that you are very anxious person, so anxious that you are afraid to approach girls or talk to people. You can use general affirmation: "I am feeling better and better every day". I actually discovered this one when I was in my early teens, not even knowing that I have anxiety issues, and by using this simple affirmation for longer period of time I got eventually rid of anxiety.

This one will eventually work but it will take longer time as there is no immediate connection between your current state (anxiety) and desired state "feeling good"

A better way is to construct more logical way, in stead of jumping from point A to point D directly (like the above example), you go from point A to B, then to C and eventually to point D. So, for example:

A. "I USED TO feel very anxious but NOW I am more and more relaxed".

Note that "USED TO" is past, thus your subconscious mind will move your current anxiety state to the past. Note that "NOW" is current moment (we always live in NOW), thus your subconscious will associate relaxation with NOW. For reason that we always live in NOW moment it is actually an excellent way to remind yourself that NOW should be more and more relaxed.

Note that in this statement you are still referring to Anxiety, which is still negative statement (see above "sky is not cloudy" vs "sky is blue and clear"). This is for purpose, this is to acknowledge that anxiety exist - yet at the same time you are pushing it to the past, it simply no longer exists.

Once your mind gets used to Step A you can easily progress to Step B:

B. "I am more relaxed NOW, AND I really like to talk to girls". "It feels good to talk to girls NOW". "By talking to more and more girls I am becoming more and more confident". "I am confident AND relaxed, I have Abundance Mentality".

Note that by this time you should be feeling more relaxed than you used to when talking to girls, and it should feel (physically) good. Ideally, with these affirmations and practice you should be able to talk to girls with ease. You should be feeling positive emotions (not just repeating words)

Again, once your mind gets used to Step B you can easily progress to Step C:

C. "I really like talking to girls AND it is easy to take them for a date". "I really want to date lots of girls THUS I invite her for a date as soon as I get opportunity".

Now your mind will seek the opportunity to invite her for a date, and it should be easy. You will easily see when the girl gives you signs that she is considering or wants to go out with you.

Next, at this point you should be dating and it should be much easier than before. You should be much relaxed and comfortable, so you want to push yourself to another step, e.g. Step D:

D. "BECAUSE dating girls is so easy, getting physical AND pushing for sex is just natural".

Note the BECAUSE. It is logical reinforcement of your current state, assuming that you are really dating girls (not just thinking about it). You simply take reality and associate it with further step.

So you basically advanced from Step A to Step D in some logical sequence. You should always match your affirmations with reality, meaning that you should practice. If your affirmations are "It is great to talk to girls every day" and then you go and play every day Nintendo, then you watch porn when you get tired of playing games, you are simply wasting your time with these affirmations.

Once you advance to decent level, e.g. when you sleep with couple of girls, you want to completely drop every negative statement (don't mention anxiety at all). You already feel good about going out with girls and sleeping with them, therefore there is no need to going back to anxiety, approaching or taking them for dates...

There is much more to it but as you can see it is getting quite loooong... Anyway, let me know if you have any specific question.

See the image above. What if somebody asks you if you can recognize the difference? Well, they don't even have to ask you, you look at the pic and you already know what the question and answer will be. It is comon sense. You Assume that it is about Red and Yellow colors.

It is pretty clear what is different - the Red flower among Yellow flowers. Your mind easily and immediately recognizes the Red flower among Yellow flowers, it sees those colors first because they are obvious. But what if the question is not about Red or Yellow? What if it is about Green color? You kind of have to focus little bit to register the Green. Some people may miss that there actually is some Green color when they look first, because they are focused only on obvious differences, on Yellow and Red...

Your normal logical mind would say: "Don't look at Yellow and don't look at Red - only then you will see Green". Affirmations can switch it. Afirmation/Hypnosis or self-hypnosis can make your mind seek the Green color first - and kind of ignore the Red and Yellow...

The same while interacting with girls. Our mind most of the time registers only the obivous, only what is visible at first sight. It sees only what Assumes, it easily misses things that are less obvious. Afirmations and auto/hypnosis can switch it, they can make our mind seek and amplify things that are not so obvious but equally or more important...

Hi Drck!

I've been thinking about this topic a lot lately. I've found that thought really is creative, four times. In the article about affirmations, Chase wrote that affirmations work because when you affirm, the mind starts looking for the things you focus on. But, in a comment, he also mentions that he could make a mark disappear by affirming that was there for over 9 years. That is beyond what we call real. That is something much greater.

What is your opinion about The Power of Your Subconscious Mind and E-Squared?

Hi Healthstar,

The Power of Your Subconscious Mind is a great book, I read it some time ago, definitely read it if you are interested in this stuff. I didn't read the E-squared.

As far as reality is concerned I have very skeptical mind and I was trained in science, thus I approach many claims that seems to be out of ordinary with high degree of skepticism. I clicked on the link you posted, and here is what Chase wrote:

"The result of it was that most of the small scars I had disappeared, and the larger ones grew very noticeably smaller"

So as a skeptic, what is for example "most of the small scars"? How many is most? Did they really disappear or are they still visible by another person? Would similar small scars disappear in another person who didn't do any visualization?

Or: "The larger ones grew very noticeably smaller". Ok, that happens over time, especially at younger age and depending on how fresh is the scar. The question remains the same - would it happen anyway, without visualization? Or is this just a personal perception? And if it happened, up to which point can visualization really help?

I simply don't know, my skeptical mind doesn't allow me to make any conclusions based on the above sentences. At the same time I understand that I must be skeptical about my own skepticism as well, because I know that personal BELIEF is very powerful.

Personally I place BELIEF at even higher and more important level than IQ, especially if that particular belief is based on something rational and logical.

A person cannot be a true believer and at the same time remain skeptical. True Christians are for example true believers: There is God and that is it, there is no doubt about it, there is no other possibility, God exists, for them it is reality. On the other hand, true Buddhists (at least in Mahayana) are true skeptics: There is no God, their teaching is in essence based on studying reality, except they don't study the external world (such as physics or chemistry), but they study the internal world (consciousness, feelings, ...). For them, non-existence of God is reality. Important to note is that Buddhists don't deny existence of God. They are willing to accept God - if they find enough evidence that he/she exists, but at current time there is no such evidence. Therefore there is simply no belief in God, the belief itself was removed.

I don't consider true Christians just blind believers. True belief is very powerful, it magnetizes minds. A person with such convincing belief can actually be compared to a person who is deeply hypnotized. He just perceives Objective reality in a Subjective way, and because he believes without any doubts it is simply HIS personal reality...

On the other hand, if say 6 billion people believe in some form of God, that doesn't make God "exist", if you know what I mean. It is simply still a strong belief based on personal interpretation of the world we live in. It is still Subjective reality in which God exists....

Here is some example, I read that Jesus was supposed to feed about 5000 people with some fish and couple of loafs of bread. Scientifically and objectively it is of course impossible, but I have no doubt that this is what those 5000 experienced on personal (Subjective) level. It was power of imagination, Jesus was such a strong character that he was able to make others believe that they truly received some meals (I think this was described in the book you mentioned).

We of course don't have another Jesus to verify whether that is what really happened, the poor guy was nailed on the cross, but my personal opinion is that this really happened. He was simply able to suggest that he gave them food and they believed it. In other words, it didn't happen Objectively, but it happened in their Subjective world...

Imagination, affirmations, hypnosis and suggestions ARE very powerful. We can see results around everyday. Look at WWII, one person was able to manipulate masses of people into killings. Look at today's politicians, they are able to manipulate people into different actions and believes. Look at religions today, different believes can lead to totally different actions, habits, traditions... different perceptions and different interpretation of the world we live in...

So back to affirmations and imaginations, my personal experience is that it works. I am skeptical about removing every scar or disease by power of imagination, but at the same time I agree that there is some influence, and in some cases this influence of imagination may be quite significant. It is proven that mind influences our body and vice versa, mind and body are simply interconnected.

Said differently, a person who stresses out and is anxious can for example avoid a heart attack or stroke by simply relaxing his mind and body. He can influence his blood pressure and heart rate, calm his inflammation, increase oxygenation by deeper breathing, avoid some allergic reactions and so on - all this by relaxing and visualizing positive environment... There are documented events such as when yogi was able to make his wounds bleed or not, depending on request...

So yes, visualization, affirmations and auto/hypnosis not only work, they ARE very powerful. The more the person believes in it the more powerful they are, there is no doubt about it... At the same token, if the person doubt these things they won't work for him. Beliefs and Doubts simply don't like each other...

Which gives us a huge advantage in the world of seduction. Simple belief without doubts that girls are attracted to you will create a HUGE frame in our mind, and this frame WILL attract many girls. ASSUMING ATTRACTION is very powerful tool in seduction, the more you believe it the more girls will be attracted to you. By simply Assuming Attraction (without any doubts) you will sort of self-hypnotize yourself, you will be only seeking those things in girls behavior that suggest her attraction to you and will ignore the rest.

It is similar to the picture above: if we compare Attraction to Green color on the picture, by deliberately focusing on Green color you kind of ignore the other colors. Your mind starts focusing on Green Color. If you become really really strong believer in Assuming Attraction, you will totally ignore the Red and Yellow colors (say that those colors can represent her not liking you enough, not being attracted to you). These other colors will always be there Objectively (another observers can see them) but they could disappear to you Subjectively as you will not consider them being that important...

Which has a huge implication, because if your frame is strong enough and you really really believe that she is attracted to you, her frame might actually collapse into yours - and she will really become attracted to you even though she wasn't at first... With your strong belief that she is attracted to you, you simply make her to perceive the same Green color as you, and once she starts perceiving Green color, the other colors will become less important to her... And that is a true magic, true miracle, now she is fully attracted to you because you simple Assumed it, you Believed it...

So the reality is, that in Objective world the picture can have many colors, perhaps if you look carefully you can find white, brown, purplish or other colors there too. We as people may not be able to perceive all these colors simply because we are not looking for them, and we may ignore some colors because we are more focused on others. But the colors are there. We can also consciously re-direct our focus through the power of imagination, hypnosis, belief or confirmations, which can give us a great advantage in our lives...

As far as REALITY is concerned, my personal opinion is that we know very little about it. Our perception of the world we live in is very limited, we can only see, hear, touch or taste our surroundings. We of course can see only very limited portion of electromagnetic spectrum (light), e.g. we can't see radio waves or Xrays, but they do exist. We can't hear high pitched noise and so on. We know something about atoms, yet everything that we perceive as mass is more than 99% EMPTY space. The "visible" universe that we can detect with our best instruments is perhaps only 4% of all the mass that is out there, I heard people talking even about 1%. The rest that is "out there" is dark energy and dark mass, of which we have not even clue what it is, we just know that it is there....

We have some minimal understanding of quantum mechanics, microscopic world of atoms and particles that create our macroscopic world.... This is a true WEIRD world, the best brains that ever lived such as Einstein couldn't understand it, he couldn't even accept that such weird behavior can even exist. In this world, there are particles that can be at different places at the same time, there are particles that interact with each other immediately no matter how far they are from each other (can be at the other side of Universe yet remain somehow 'connected'), particles that change its behavior depending whether they are observed or not... In this world, everything (past, present and future) is happening at the same time... There appears to be different dimensions, different universes or planets existing in our spacetime... Right where you are there could be another person existing in another universe, living at the same time and place, just in different dimension...

Simply weird world, and all the mass (including ourselves) is "built" from these particles...

So what do we really know about reality? Our senses are very limited, our brain only process what it perceives through our senses, and our best brains don't even understand what is it that we actually perceive through our senses... We have no clue what is consciousness or what is awareness... We simply know nothing about OBJECTIVE reality - all we can do is to live in our SUBJECTIVE world, in world that we dare to call real because it appears that way...

Hi! Thank you for such an elaborate reply! I didn't think you would take so much time to reply, so thanks a lot! :)

Well, all I can say is E-Squared is perhaps the ONE BOOK that challenges everything we know about Science head on. Yes it is written in a style that many people find childish or annoying, but still the content is great.

And I am willing to believe that some modern authors write 'feel good' books to become famous quickly, but I just cannot believe that persons like Napoleon Hill, James Allen or the author of Psycho-Cybernetics were such small people!

Also, have you read 'You Can Heal Your Life'? I find that the author is very accurate about the various mental states that lead to diseases. At least personally, those things apply very much!

I just don't know. The more and more I think about these things, the more confused I get. I just cannot comprehend how in the hell for the love of God or Hell whatever almost 95 percent people are living with so much certainty. This religion is good, this is the right thing to do, that is bad, and so on and on! They are just soooo..... CERTAIN, and their beliefs IRREVERSIBLE. I mean how blind can you be! Are our brains THAT MUCH different?

I mean, if you talk to most people about these things, they will be like 'Meh', and will probably give you weird looks.

Hi sneaky charm, no problem. It is kind of my hobby, my life, I could go on and on for hours just off the top of my head....

I read 'You Can Heal Your Life' book years ago, it certainly made a good impression on me otherwise I wouldn't remember it at all, LOL. If I recall the author talks a lot about Love, perhaps acceptance and forgiveness. Those are very powerful emotions, another good read. I 'absorbed' it long time ago so I don't remember details, but I know that it definitely touched me.

The world we live in is confusing. If you look around, there is not only one or two colors, there is lots of different colors, different shapes, different patters in the picture that we call World... We all see the same 'reality' but we perceive it differently, through different believes that we hold in our minds... Many people chose to see only those colors that are immediately obvious to them, thus they keep their lives simple. Others are not so fortunate, they have to explore, discover, seek other colors... And there are plenty other colors, more than one could comprehend...

Our brains are the same, so to say, but what is really different is BELIEVES. Believes can be so strong that people are willing to kill because of them, or they can hate because of their believes are different than yours. So belief can be your best friend, but also your worst enemy... People should chose their beliefs wisely....

Another good reads is Tony Robbins, great motivational speaker, definitely try some audios. I read book from Dale Carnegie, How to win friends and influence people. Great read, classic, although he's is kind of teaching you how to be Nice Guy, which is contradictory to seduction (but since it is related to business it's ok). "Emotional Intelligence" is another good one, important for daily life including seduction, although if you read about emotions from other authors it is rather superficial. Or try to read about sleeping prophet, Edgar Cayce, quite interesting. As far as spirituality, if you like Buddhism try Osho, I haven't found any other author who could beat that wisdom... Or some more scientific approaches from today's scientific point of view at Buddhism, e.g. 'Buddha's brain' is a good read as well...

Others are not so fortunate

That's a very deep line in this context!

I've been meaning to read Tony for months, but heck, I haven't yet. Read Dale, loved it. Still read after every few days, yet to by heart it though! ;)

Well, will certainly look into some of the book recommendations you made, especially the one about emotions and the Buddhist one. I liked 'The Power of Now' quite a lot. There are so few books that speak truth so profoundly. Thanks!
