Aight I'm in this bitch.

Vegas is pushed back but my progress in the hospitality industry and promoting is ramped up.

talk to me.

What are some things I should be doing learning about?

Throwing a huge party in october and have a lot of work to get going...but never done it before and new to promoting...not cold approach but promoting yes.

This is somewhat beginner social skills

Any tips

Start a social media page. Get pics and videos of people doing really cool stuff and having fun and post in your pages.

Find women who have social power and followers. Influencers, sorority girls, captain of the cheer team, leader of the dance studio, whatever. Approach them and offer them free entry and free drinks. If they can go to a club, make their friends tag along, and have their friends see them be treated like a VIP, they will come back and bring even more people with them next time.

Get in touch with other organizations and events and offer to host their after parties.

Get VERY cool business cards (no paper bs like some cheap plumber) and hand those out.

Get people in your text list so you can send them out mass invites and offers so keep them showing up again and again.

is it because I'm black

LOL, Speaking as a West Indian, if anything being Black makes promoting clubs/parties way easier.
Even if you're promoting electronica (*insert history of techno here*).

If ever the cliche fit, promotion is a lifestyle, not a job/hobby.
So working out, dressing well, STRONG & Memorable cologne, (I'd go less heavy/less powerful with cologne for cold approach)

I haven't done party promotion since the 00's. I would imagine that it's much easier to do nowadays.

But a lot of it was

1) Going Out Every Night.
2) Going to Every venue you can think of
3) Talking to club staff, and see where else they work
4) Finding industry nights.
5) Talking to restaurant, hotel, and club management/owners.
6) Talking to other promoters
7) Going to non club type events and networking. (Art/Acting/whiskey appreciation/wine appreciation, yoga clubs)
8) Business Cards for People in the Biz

I wouldn't do flyers in 2023, but it depends on where you live. Flyers/Posters might be a good idea on a college campus. If you're really pounding the pavement, then you're handing out flyers Thursday night for something on Friday night.

With stuff being online, I'd probably be running Instagram ads (or Tiktok, I don't know their ad network).
  • IG Page
  • Lots of other social media pages, possibly a social media manager
  • Email List
  • Text List

Have you ever organized something on this scale before? If not, put some time into making sure that goes smoothly.

Second, advertising. Effective social media use is a MUST in 2023 but a lot of it comes down to knowing your target audience.

I know a guy who does this actually. A lot of it is basically monetizing his undergrad reputation but I’m sure you’ll find it educational and maybe even inspiring. Check your messages.
